Will do, Im gonna polish the Weather and daynight script first though...
[editline]6th May 2011[/editline]
Just took out the weather script temporarily, I will end up releasing a demo.

Okay, I was going to release the bland areas, But now im just making it fancy. :v:
I was told to let you all know that Coolity has just cut the bridge due to an exploit that lets you skip halfway through the game.
Ugh, generate them lightmaps.
When used right, I don't see this as an incredibly good looking game - sure it has potential but I just wouldn't see myself buying something on the unity engine, the same way I wouldn't buy something made on game maker or a flash game.
Unity and Game Maker aren't even comparable.
You are basing your opinion of the engine on some random pictures created with standard assets with only the most basic 3D effects enabled.
Check the browser games http://www.interstellarmarines.com here out, they give a small taste of what Unity is capable off.
It may not be as good as UE3 or CryEngine 3, but it's definetly one of the better engines out there (and more affordable ones).
Ugh, generate them lightmaps.
I forgot to at the time, and some reason trees wont cast shadows. :arghfist::saddowns:
Although that is fixed for the environment demo!
[editline]6th May 2011[/editline]
So apparently Unity3d Free has no shadows.
But thats means I can add more stuff for less lag.

Unity3d Free..... ugh. I suggest stepping it up if you are serious about this project.
I'm pretty sure the free version has lightmaps, it should be under the Window tab.

Yeah you can do lightmaps but not dynamic shadows.
How does steam handle paying developers?
Do all members of said team get money or only the development team leader?

Are you not getting a little far ahead of yourself? Jesus....

Super Meat Boy and Castle Crashers were both made in flash.

I just want to know before I decide on Desura or Steam. v:v:v
I just want to know before I decide on Desura or Steam. v:v:v
Let me make this a little more clear. UNTIL YOU HAVE ANYTHING THAT RESEMBLES A WORKING AND FUNCTIONING PRODUCT DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT SELLING IT. NOT WHERE. NOT FOR HOW MUCH. IF THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT YOU ARE SIMPLY TRYING TO MAKE THE GAME FOR MONEY, NOT FOR FUN.
Sorry for the rageish.
I just want to know before I decide on Desura or Steam. v:v:v
I think you should hold off on that decision for a bit till you get the game into a playable state. It'd give you time to decide.
I think I just had a realization. Why am I trying to make a AAA title, alone, with no programming language except for the monsters?
I should work on something smaller scale.
Plus, If I learn coding a LOT more, this could become a pretty nice game.
So I now head of to learn an actual language other than Unity3d.

Sorry, but this just occurred to you?
Sorry, but this just occurred to you?
Actually no. Ive been thinking that, and just had the realization that even if this does go nicely, its going to be VERY buggy. So now i'm going to learn XNA or C#/++. Anyone have recommendations on which language is better?

The only "engine" you mentioned was XNA. I am beginning to lose all faith.
The only "engine" you mentioned was XNA. I am beginning to lose all faith.
I thought XNA was more of a set of tools than a complete engine?

Messed that up, Meant language, Im half asleep here.
Messed that up, Meant language, Im half asleep here.
XNA is not a language either?
XNA is not a language either?
Framework? Thought it was a language.

If you just want a game that will work (and possibly play nice with some effort and polish) with minimal programming knowledge, I'd stick to Unity or maybe UDK. You don't learn C++ in a day, or a month, or even a year.
From what I hear Java and Python are some of the easier languages to pick up. Some people still jump straight into C/C++, though.
Maybe you should consider modding a game, or dicking around with an open-source game like Quake.
Oh hello Coolity. You planning on getting bored and stopping partway through on this project too?
Wow I don't know how well a fully featured RPG is going to work out for your first game in Unity. Hell, the first thing I made was basically a 3D version of that physics Flash game Blosics.
Well if you don't mind spending some money one thing that might help is basically a bunch of RPG related assets for Unity called ORK
It basically adds pre-scripted objects in like NPCs, enemies, stats/leveling, and things that would save a lot of time: http://rpg-kit.com/index.html
Still, I stand on the recommendation for you to keep doing tutorials or making small practice games until you have the knowledge to create a big project like this without running into a lot of frustration.

No he's stopping a good, 2% done. Stopping halfway could have been more acceptable. This isnjus pitiful.

I am currently doing exactly this with XNA, Gonna make a cheap platformer game and see where it goes.

Didn't you hear he quit?
No he's stopping a good, 2% done. Stopping halfway could have been more acceptable. This isnjus pitiful.
No, Im trying to code and most of this is tutorial based stuff, Plus this is far too advanced.
After I build up a good amount of coding knowledge I will reattempt this.
Didn't you hear he quit?
I did after I posted it :v:
Though I don't really see the reasoning behind since last time I checked, C# and Javascript were "real" languages
