Still waiting for someone to help me with this:
Anyone with a working toolset?
I need some help with this, since I can't get the toolset to work.
- Locate your save folders in Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Characters\(name)\Saves
- Choose the save you want to edit and open the DAS file in the toolset
- Click the box next to SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR, then SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR, then SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE
- Find SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE_MORPH_NAME and edit the line on the right hand side to read "ef_luciface02" (without the quotes)
- Save the file.

When that is done, then it won't be the same face atleast. :v:
Is there anywhere I can just randomly battle shit, "grind" basically? I would very much like to raise my levels before I go into any more of the story.
Just random side quests like all the shit for the Mages Collective and Chantry Boards. There really is no need for grinding, if you just play through the game you should end up around level 20 and that's as far as you need to go.
[editline]10:41AM[/editline]
Beat the game today.
[sp]Morrigan's "choice" really had me thinking hard for a good 10 minutes. I ended up preggo'ing her because I didn't want anyone to die even though I know the demon-baby is going to be some crazy ass shit in some sequal :([/sp]
[sp]It wasn't the archdemon that was captured, it was the Old God contained in the archdemon, and not corrupted by the Tevinter magi.[/sp]
Goddamn Yahtzee was so right, this is the most generic fantasy setting ever.
Does anyone else know about the Summoning Font in the library on the first floor of the Circle of Magi tower?
Wrote down the code for each Summoning Ring, only one is the right ring for the quest, the two others gives nothing.
[sp]Elvorn's Grande Bestiary
Common Table Carving Spot
Spiritorum Etherialis
Magus Gorvish
Novice Phylactery
Summoning the Second (I think this is the one that summoned the thing you have to kill)
Elvorn's Grande Bestiary
Rodecoms Uncommon Calling
Magus Gorvish
Summoning the Third
Elvorn's Grande Bestiary
Tome of Spirit Personages
Summoning the First
There's a fourth one, but I don't know the code for that one.[/sp]
Micro-manage everything. All of your party member's moves, movements, spells, everything. Even with a lot of tactics set up, the AI is completely retarded and wants you to lose.
Not totally. Obviously it won't differentiate between some things as well as you can but if you set up "Heal using least health poltice at below 25% health level", and "cast stonefist when an enemy is frozen" (garunteed to shatter an enemy if it's phys resistance is low enough)" or "heal party member if health is below 50%", then the AI will do those just fine. You'll want to micro some of their abilities and thier positioning when fighting against bosses or difficult hordes to make sure you are timing up attack after attack to prevent the boss/horde from steamrolling you.
[editline]05:18PM[/editline]
I find the AI quite often just hang out around near me during combat, not even attacking, despite me giving the order to attack.
Also, one time, during the final battle, Alistair, Leliana, and myself all got the final hit on an ogre. The result? All 3 of us did the finishing move. At the exact same time.
Oh, Dragon Age. How hilarious you are.
You have to set your AI to be at "default", "agressive" or "ranged" and make sure you don't have the "don't move" command active if you want them to auto-attack enemies when you do. The exception is ranged... if they are using a bow/etc they will attack if an enemy is in range of it's attack when you have the "dont move" command active.
I'm probably going to buy the game guide. I work at Best-Buy so I can get it for cheap.
Is there anywhere I can just randomly battle shit, "grind" basically? I would very much like to raise my levels before I go into any more of the story.
It doesn't really matter because everything levels to your level anyways. The only real force you have to "grind" with would be the quality of your weapons and armor, and any special abilities or attributes you've spent a lot of points towards.
Is there anywhere I can just randomly battle shit, "grind" basically? I would very much like to raise my levels before I go into any more of the story.
All I can recommend is to do every possible side quest. I did that on my first playthrough.
Does anyone else find the hair selection disappointing, especially for female characters?
LeonS has joined the thread.
Just started playing as a warrior elf with a "noble" family or whatever it was, not the dalish one atleast. Anyhow, I just got the [SP] dog I saved in Ostreg..fuck I forgot the names so quickly and I raged so fucking hard at Loghain [/SP]

Godamnit, my game just crashed, right when I was having a dialogue event with the Dalish elves at some forest.
I hate how the game loading turns slower and slower over time.

Yes, considering that my alienage elf mage and that other elf mage looked exactly the same.
Nevermind.

Do side-quests, nets you some decent gold and experience, otherwise enemies don't respawn.

Dragon Age really does go excessive on the gore.
When you first get your dog as a human noble, you literally fight 3 or 4 rats and all of the sudden you're covered in blood.
But it's cool, you look really badass when you're covered in blood.
You can turn the excessive gore off you know.

As seen in AoC, you can never have enough gore.
You can turn the excessive gore off you know.
But, I like people blowing up when i stab them!
There's a mod that makes finishing moves happen more often too, if you want to go even more over the top.
Is it just Bioware failing at foreshadowing or is it that I am a really keen observer?
Because [sp]I knew from the second I saw him, Loghain was going to betray me, and was confirmed in the one cut-scene with the king were the king says something like "today victory is ours" or some shit, and Loghain turns around and says something like "yes....it is" and has that glint in his eyes.
Also, I knew from the second I saw him Duncan was going to die, the games story wouldn't work if your "mentor/superior" was around.
Same thing with Branka, when I first heard about her I knew 1) I was going to have to find her and 2) her search would make her a lune and I'd have to make a moral decision at the end.[/sp]
I can catch these things in real movies/shows all the time, either I'm really good at reading people or people are becoming real shitty at foreshadowing.
EDIT: Actually, it also stems from the fact that I knew how typical the story is going to be before I get to that point, Yahtzee was right, not only is the setting generic, so is the story. It follows the same plot arches damn near every game does like this.

I've been playing a game for the past 2 years. In every Hollywood movie I see, I try to guess the plot, antagonists, ending and all random shit that is going to happen in the movie. For these two years, I've been wrong 7 times. And I've watched more than 40 movies. Long story short - Movies are getting more bland and stupid. Same goes for games.
Love dem finishing moves.

Juggernaut armor, fucking awesome looking.

Should I post the screens of the game in this thread or in the General Ingame Screenshots thread?
This game has like 5% replay value...
The side quests are repetitive "Find me this and I'll give you this much gold" kind of quests. The toolset is technically hard to use and there's not much you can do except create new areas (which nobody had bothered to do) and new stats for certain weapons. There's no new models or textures for armor and weapons. EA just release a toolset to make themselves look like they're supporting modding, but in fact, it's FUCKING difficult to add new models. The toolset's just there for show, not for practical use.
Dragon Age Origins is the fail at lasting longer than the main story line . Face it, there's no free roam. Even if there were, what the fuck will you do while free roaming in Dragon Age? You can't do shit. All you can do is run around. Unlike oblivion, you can use your weapons ANY FUCKING TIME instead of only when enemies are near.
I'm pretty sure modding was not really intended to do much. As i've said before, the toolset is there for make people buy the game, thinking it has replay value. All you're really paying for for the game is the the epic storyline. THAT'S IT!
EA always fail, and will always fail, trust me.
Long wall of text
The game is still a fucking long game, atleast it's less repetitive than World of Warcraft.

Actually WoW is less repetitive than Dragon Age, I just tried playing a second playthrough with a mage (my first playthrough was with a warrior) and I couldn't even make myself get past that big battle at the beginning of the game, because I realized it's a cheap version of ME in a fantasy setting.
The game in a nutshell:
1) Stab things
2) Talk to people
3) Sell crap you've found
4) Repeat steps 1-4
There's nothing else to do besides kill and talk, so I honestly can't figure out HOW you can call this game less repetitive than WoW.
And I'm not being biased or whatever you might think, I played Dragon Age for a month and did every one of those shitty sidequests and everything else, it got really boring towards the end of the game.
tl;dr: <3'd the game for a month, couldn't make it through a second playthrough cause it was so repetitive.

Actually, I think you're right, I've played WoW so much that I can't remember when it started to feel repetitive for me. And, I'm the biased one, I've only played Dragon Age since late Friday/Early Saturday.
Juggernaut armor is awesome, it's the only time i've taken the time out of the story to find something.
[editline]04:18PM[/editline]
Has anyone made armor or anything in with the mod tools so that you can play solo? I hate having to please people in my party.
