So does this game have First person as well as RTS aspects to it? If you can be any single soldier in your army that you want and jump between them, i'm sold.

Mostly it's just for the fun of flying/driving through a big wartorn battlefield shredding the bad guys with bombs/lasers/plasma/whatever.
The only really useful thing that first person can do is the DGun for the comm, most everything else is useless.
Me and my friends are really into classic Total Annihilation and we tried out Spring as a possible alternative. Two problems: 1. The engine itself is really rough around the edges. The interface and lobby system are a real pain. 2. There are no good mods that try to recreate TA for Spring. After extensive searching I eventually found one that pretty faithfully replicated TA but it was still buggy and many of the shortcomings of TA that made us want to switch in the first place (shitty AI/micro/pathfinding) were still present, making the switch somewhat pointless.

The only one that really did that was XBA.
I'm trying to set the binds so that the camera keys are WASD instead of the arrow keys, but it doesn't seem to work. Can anyone explain exactly how to get this to work? Exactly what I have to put into the uikeys.txt to make it work. I tried unbindall and then the bind keys, and it works, but it unbinds all of the other keys. Also, for some reason every time I load up the lobby and select a map, the spawn points are always up in the corner instead of properly placed on the map. This is a problem, because most of the time it seems to not spawn the AI properly, thus making me automatically win.

Is 1944 Spring fun?
Is 1944 Spring fun?
Yes, but I recommend the TA mods and stuff. Spring 1944 gets slightly boring after a while of rifleman spam.
Can someone tell me the song in the trailer. I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks linelor! Now i shall try did i do everything right.
Thanks linelor! Now i shall try did i do everything right.
I don't know. Does the game work? People need to type clear English.

Was playing NOTA against the AI, it crashed. :saddowns: The infolog at the end just says:
[ 31576] Spring 0.80.5.2 (0.80.5.2-0-g67e2f5b{@}-cmake-mingw32) has crashed. Do you just build up an army and attack? Capture some kind of point? What?

Every time when i set up a NOTA single player game, it starts and I automatically win. I did add bots. What's the problem?
You're just too good.

Capture some kind of point? What?
There's 4 gamemodes. 1: Kill the commander. 2: Kill the commander and his lineage. 3: King of the Hill. 4: Space Bugs. Space bugs requires a "Bug AI" on the map, which slowly spawns more and more hives until you are dead. The goal is to survive for as long as possible. Space bugs is a starship troopers reference, because if you look at the bugs, they look like the bugs from starship troopers. Also, be sure to use RAI for NOTA, as it is the one that works the best and is most stable, but is also relatively easy to beat at the start. Leave it for too long and it'll buttrape you after 10 minutes.
How can I ally one enemy with another? I want to have a 2v2 match, but the other two keep destroying each other.
How can I ally one enemy with another? I want to have a 2v2 match, but the other two keep destroying each other.
Set their ally to the same number. The team will make them control the same units, ally is like teams as we know them.
Might just try the space bugs one. I love Starship troopers.
Hey i'm new to this whole game, i have played supreme commander, but i couldn't get hand of it because of my crap pc,but the problem is that i fell that spring ta is my kind of game but i really can't get the hang of it. Anny good starting tips what to build first what units to make?

Be sure to build turrets, but do not rely on them as they are destroyed quite easily due to their short range.
I always start with 3 mines->2 solars->vehicle factory->t1 con->build econ a little. All the while building units.
I wish I could get into this, but I can't because the AI just sits there. They build, but they don't send any units to my base, and it only takes about a dozen of my units to obliterate their base. It's funny, because the AI I had allied with sent a LOT of units, but the enemy AI didn't even retaliate besides the turrets it had set up. What's going on here? [editline]09:19PM[/editline] And yes, I've tried RAI, which is the one that just sits there building, and none of the others even work.
Why don't you just play online? Its tons of fun. Just get into a 10-16 player game and hope the other people on your team are good.

Or the space bugs gamemode? That actually gets quite hard.
I can't download the latest version from that site linked in the first post, and I was wanting to host a game for me and My friend >.< blargh!
I think the reason for the unpopularity of this engine is the fact that it's slightly buggy and unoptimised, and that the devs don't even support the lobby program properly. Not to mention the fact that the so called "Tutorials" of the lobby program are really shitty.
