You can't be stealthy in online FPS' People like to jump around, run top speed all the time and check their back all the time making it hard to reach up to them for a fast kill or such. Unless you have perks and a magical knife of destruction :v:
Most you can get to is staying mostly out of sight. That requires more speed and luck than sneaking.
Then you are not very good.
The fact that headshots mean in any second you can die from one shot if you are too careless just makes grabbing a dude that much more satisfying.
And since its 3rd person its harder to sneak since everyone has a huge field of vision.
Dude, I've also beaten MGS4 on The Boss Extreme without alerts and all that shit, and I played MGO for a while.
It's not that much of a stealth game online, sure you can attempt to be stealthy and get a couple CQC kills, but if you watch the best players in MGO, notice how all they do is headshot, do spastic movements to avoid getting headshotted (via box sometimes), and stand at walls to view what's around the corner.
I can find videos if you like, but that probably won't do any good because you refuse to believe anything that I tell you, which is why I won't attempt to make you realize that TF2 has better stealth.
Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay

That's funny since those are the people I end up knifing the most. Mostly when they're too busy shooting someone else all "spastic" like.
And I've played TF2 for a long time too and spy is my most used class. All it is cloak, get behind someone wait 2 seconds to uncloak etc...
It's only challenging when spy is disguised and/or uncloaked but not by much.
And its not the fault of the game, but red or blue the spy sticks out like a sore thumb in any background.

Ballistic knives in COD7 :smug:
It's a gun that shoots knives. (And it looks like a knife handle)
The Ship, XII, and NOLF 1/2.

THIS, this definitely.
I'd like to point out that Spy in TF2 is almost impossible on serious play. There's a reason why you don't see very many Spies. Stealth in multiplayer games is possible, it's just impractical on higher skill levels. Doesn't mean it's not possible. I've seen people on TF2 being unconventional classes and being stealthy, like Engineer. And don't forget Counter-Strike, although most people are better than that.
Seeing as you already mentioned Thief, my favorite stealth games, there's not much I can offer that hasn't already been said. (I have an affinity for stealth games, like yourself.)
Deus Ex and mods for it are fun, like the Nameless Mod. Try going through the game in a pacifist run. It's great fun.
Hitman games are classified as a stealth game although it's not the same type of stealth that I like, relying on disguises and trickery, and not moving unseen.

Also, when Deus Ex: Human Revolution comes out, that should be one of the major stealth games to come out in a while.
Can't wait for that.
Hitman series are great.
Thief.
Mw2
Dark messiah might & magic.
I feel like I could say assassin's creed but it's really a lot more practical to go in guns blazing in those games.
What about Deus Ex 1?
The Elder Scrolls IV has a lot of stealth missions, particularly the Dark Brotherhood ones.
Sly Cooper 2?
That isn't a hardcore stealth game, but it does have elements.
Well there is Siren: Blood Curse but thats more horror than stealth. But there is a stealth element. There is also Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay and Tenchu Z.
Hitman
Not necessarily a stealth game but you can be sneaky in s.t.a.l.k.e.r. Especially at night.

Was going to recommended the first Splinter Cell, but you already said you've got it.
The only thing I could suggest is Thievery mod for UT99, but it's a mod and more tailored around combat; still was a damn great mod to sneak in.

No. They butchered the Stealth when they added in 3rd person.
No point in using any special Augs when you can just use the perspective camera to look around a corner. Nope. Don't wanna add a challenge, cus its all bout balance, not in-depth experiences like the original Deus Ex.

It's not that hard to just stay in first person.

You don't know shit about how its balanced, the game isn't out yet.
If you wan't it to be exactly like the first Deus ex, go play the first deus ex.
007 Quantum of of Solace.
Single player is stealth as heck for the most part.
I wouldn't really go to Assassin's Creed if you're looking for a stealth game, though.
No one lives forever had stealth, kinda.
it's also very funny

The chronicles of riddick.
It's an amazing game.
NOLF 2 has stealth as well for that matter.
[editline]12:26AM[/editline]
If you choose to use it, you can go around in NOLF 2 just tranq'ing everyone MGS style.
And you get swords and shurikens and exploding robot kittens and
