Why isn't there a PC port of Red Dead Redemption already?
Reduce gameplay mechanics to account for lack of keyboard/mouse, hardware and customization options.
Examples?
How many times have you decided to turn up AA on a console game, or been required to use finesse with a joystick on a typical mouse task (they have mild autoaim for a reason).

Because a console is never as customizable as a PC, it necessitates removal, and thus, is dumbing down.
That's not saying that console users are all dumb.
That's barely dumbing down. The only way a game would be literally dumbed down for consoles is if the game was like and RTS. Half of the complaints about games being dumbed down are just pure bitching.
I don't particularly care how well it works, GTA 4 was fine just ran like shit. I can turn down the settings, I was playing video games when the highest quality graphics weren't even 3D so it doesn't have to look pretty to satisfy me. I just want them to give us something

So how many times have you had issues with installing a game on the xbox, or had to change some values in a config file on the xbox to get it working? As I said before, when have you changed your anti-aliasing settings on a console?
That's not necessarily a bad thing = compare the times you've had issues with a game on PC and a console and you'll agree that it can be advantageous in some situations.
The problem is when you port a game from a console to a PC, you need to develop more, and not everyone does.
On the other hand, when you port a game from PC, you merely have to remove features (other than the usual port development that is).

I'll reiterate: nipple textures
Actually, at least in Fallout 3 and NV, the female body textures do not have nipples on them.

I was talking about fallout.
I like how OP got a box fort for not knowing the apparent difficulty of porting files from a console to PC. I don't know either, and I was wondering the same thing that OP was. Don't dumb the guy for not knowing; not everyone on Facepunch knows the ins and outs of computers. This thread could've been opened and closed if one person informed the OP that it's not that simple to port files.

Then it's good that we're not talking about shitty games.
I would love to play RDR and LA Noire on my PC, but Rockstar has just given up on us.
well at least Max Payne 3 will be on PC.

i'm sorry i must have missed those considering almost all of the posts in this thread have chastised console games for random reasons

I don't plan to support Rockstar by buying their games until they start treating the PC platform fairly with well optimized ports without a delay in release date - I could accept a 2-3 month gap between console and PC release if I really had to for them to optimize it properly but that still seems a little unfair and the massive delay clearly hasn't helped them optimize the GTA IV titles anyway.

apart from the optimization GTAIV was a good port, better than the other games
though I reinstalled it recently and it crashed on startup 9 times out of 10, a patch fixed it but you needed to start the game to get LIVE to download it, and LIVE is a temperamental piece of shit at the best of times
Yeah, seems to run good when up to date with patching although I do have an i7 and 4870 so I don't really know the full extent of the optimization.
Indeed, Live is often quite a hinderance.

I want to see exactly how came to those statistics, bro.
