Not really a fair comparison. It's more Metroid/Mario with sandbox/building and RPG elements. It's not nearly "survive and build" like Minecraft. Survival is easy, and if you die, you don't lose anything important if you store your money.
God damn eye of chtulu attacks at the worst possible times. Climbing up a chasm? Going back to base to resupply on ammo? THE EYE OF CHTULU HAS AWOKEN!

So, what size worlds do you guys normally use? I tend to use large worlds for single player because I hear that people have been playing this game for a day and ended up getting all the top tier equipment. I wonder what will be the next biomes/environments they will add. Deserts would be awesome, so would tall snowy mountains.
Also different alignments for environments would be awesome (for example an evil forest/grassland would have Werewolves and other nasty things, good forests/grasslands would have bunnies and singing birds). No need for much work either (well except the new enemies), a palette swap and some modified sprites would do fine for the landscape. The worlds might not be big enough right now to properly implement this though, it would get very cramped (maybe if a XXL world size is added).

As long as you are careful not to get cornered you have nothing to worry about, I went down there without armour and just a wooden sword.

It looks like a shortsword but swings like a broadsword, prolly doesn't have the range though
edit - Weather could be doable, it would just darken the mud it hits slightly, maybe slow down anything walking though it? And if it hits stone or something maybe it could slowly fill up, so you'd get small amounts of water running of your rooftops
