I find my first diamond vein. I mine the first block and BOOM LAVA and I died.

I know what you're talking about; you see a little 1x1 hole in the cliff so you go up to see and you end up spending 5 hours exploring this massive cave system it leads you to.

NOOOOOO I just finished my bridge going to my water slide, and I got the gray screen! WHYYY!

Within the massive WIP admin fortress a bunch of us built in 4 huge lava pillars to provide lighting from the 3 finished upper levels. Took a pic before we finish building in the levels downwards awhile ago. I can't fit the whole room in one pic XD. Redstone is so fucking pointless IMO. I would actually mine it more often if you could do more stuff with it instead of just complex switches.

The only things you can make with it right now that are even remotely useful are combination locks and traps, and combination locks aren't even useful as long as someone could just mine through your wall.
