And yes getting lost is part of the game sometimes, but there is a compass for a reason so let's make it useful, don't like it? Then don't use it! You could also not just mark your house, maybe you want to mark an awesome mine entrance, or a future building site. It's an idea that embodies the spirit of Minecraft. Let the player choose to make something, and then choose what to do with it in their own way.

Just outta curiosity, did the update that broke sound add anything at all? It's kind of an inconvenience to have to reinstall Painterly every time an update goes out, especially if it's going to break sound and not add anything to make up for it.

Man, just when you think you've finally explored and mined out that huge cave and can now carry your treasures back up to the surface you find three more dark areas with dungeons. Oh well.

Just emailed and twittered (is that even a word?) Notch asking if he is working on a steam version.

Maybe the reason notch went to valve is to work out a way to update the game over steam, because it updates so often? They could have tried to work out a way to let notch update without valve approving it or whatever.

I'd never tried the game until the impromptu free weekend. Bought it as soon as the servers went back up. My latest creation is the MOB FUNNEL. It's a series of 2 block drops with a glass cage at the very bottom. At night there are catwalks to walk around on to lure nearby mob into the funnel, and once they get to the bottom they can be safely killed and looted through doors on either side of the cage. Prussel or whatever just banned me from his server for reporting that wooden building was on fire even though 5 seconds ago I was underground with him. Sigh. :saddowns:

The game doesn't redownload sound anymore for some reason, if you already HAVE the sound folder, your game will have sound. If you don't, you are shit out of luck until Notch fixes it.
