Minecraft Thread V38 - That's a nice shade of grey!

Right now I'm using Hammer to plan out a house, a really nice house, using 32x32 blocks. Then I can use it as reference and build the house layer by layer, the first time, exactly how it should be. Like printing a house. Hammer is really a great tool for stuff like this.
I like Minecraft because of its graphical simplicity.
I don't think notch would gain much from it.
I think it would be more likely to be made by someone in the community who knows how. Although the only way Minecraft will ever be completely compatible with graphical shaders, hyperthreading and the like would be if it was converted fully to C++.
We all know that would never happen. If someone in the community was willing to make a Minecraft graphics client, loads of people would be grateful. I mean, we can visualise Minecraft maps in 3D cube editors, why not in a glorified shader editor?
Guys I want to prove something to my friend. He thinks minecraft is a horrible game. What do you have to say to him?
disagree if you thinks hes fucking retarded
agree if you think hes right
So many options. Maybe he can't get into it, doesn't mean he is retarded.
Minecraft was designed to look this way, simple. Which is why it works. That "cubelands" competitor isn't designed to look like it does, it simply took the same cube simplicity and covered the graphics with unfitting textures. Everything looks like plastic. Minecrafts graphics although simple and something you'd see from a Doom level fit it's environment well.
I hate how it's hard as shit to mine much in Skylands. Thank god Treasure huts give you all kinds of nice shit.

Pretty sure lwjgl supports glsl so shaders should be still possible. People who know how are too busy making their own games.
Why can't I start minecraft.exe?
It runs fine in browser, but minecraft.exe tells me "Bad video drivers"
everything is up to date.
Your video drivers are bad.
If you're using a chipset or a GPU that's a NVIDIA 5500GS or below (Includes ATI equivalent) then Minecraft will give that error. In any other case, your drivers are fucked up.

Guess my laptop game isn't so laptop friendly. Guess I'll be using browser for now.
I'm going to buy minecraft, but i need a paypal account,i only buyed games from steam before and was using an international credit card
I need an international credit card to buy minecraft or will be fine with my argentinian credit card?
What's the IP for the Skylands server? I want to see it.

I don't think Minecraft ever was intended to be low-spec friendly, just to be a relatively simple game. The block style is for ease of building and other things. (And it works very well)
But Notch does his best to optimise, but he can only optimise so far without having to convert to an entirely different scripting language, the current being Java.
so, I was just exploring this massive cave (sound still isn't working) and I came across this lava pit, I turned around and found 3 spiders jumping towards me.
Scared the fuck out of me

It's not a server, it's a save you download and put in your .minecraft/saves/ folder.
I was once in a cave and I noticed a skeleton and a creeper and while I was running away the skeleton shot the creeper.
The creeper's corpse left behind a music disc, so I went "Cool a music dis-" and proceeded to get shot to death by the skeleton.
It took me many Minecraft days to get that green disc back.
Well, as you guys probably saw on the stream recently, I recovered the maze using the power of System Restore, and now that I have nigh unlimited wood due to the massive forest I made, I can resume construction of it. But first, some actual ingame overhead pics:

So there you go. Expect updates as they occur! (ignore the piece of FP there in the bottom left of each of the screens, ZScreen likes to do that sometimes)

Also, wow, the Successive Game's cliffside building looks really pretty at night.

Pff that maze is easy to beat :v:

Does anyone have that circle chart on hand? I need to make some castle towers.

I paid for it, if you're insinuating I pirated it.

Yup, if you can manage to kill a creeper with a skeleton.... wait wait....
If you can manage to get a skeleton to kill a creeper, you will always get a record.

You will get it later in the middle of the night...
Just recently got to a depth in my mining operations with rich iron deposits. I did explore to a depth were there were what looked to be redstone and diamond... but I can't verify that. Unfortunately, whenever I mined either of them, they didn't give me any blocks. Why is that?

You need a wood pickaxe to get stone, a stone pickaxe to get iron, and at least an iron pickaxe to get diamond and everything else.
Thanks, I'll be sure to remember that. Makes sense... I was using a stone pick. I have plenty of iron now though. =)

Fuck, I always miss these things.

Exactly what I was looking for, thanks.
