• APB servers shutting down tonight

I bought this game and don't play it anymore, but it infuriates me that they're cutting off all support so soon without any mention of third party servers, I'm going to start sending them messages requesting a patch for player servers.
If i would be the developer, i'd still like to see my work live, i'd be proud making this possible to be hosted by users for free.
I don't see a reason not to do this.
failed
Is it really that bad?
Wow, i really liked this game aswell, but it wasn't worth a monthly fee. I woulde've bought it on release if it wasn't for the monthly fee.
I'm not surprised at all. I tried the game in beta, and it was horrible.

and after all that hype it turned out to be a huge failure gg, realtime worlds gg
Sweet jesus that was fast. I am deadly glad that I got to play the beta before I would have bought this, shit sucked ass.
Not a big surprise [editline]10:29PM[/editline]
Sweet jesus that was fast. I am deadly glad that I got to play the beta before I would have bought this, shit sucked ass.
Fucken agree
That was quick. Guess there's no second place in the MMO industry. Shame that the brilliant customization never got used for any good use. I would love to see that in a 16 player TPS.
I kinda feel bad for the creators. Spending five years on developing a game and then shutting it down in such a short time between the release must've hurt badly.
Should've made a better game then. Or abort it after doing a target audience analyses. I bet they took a gamble somewhere during development. [editline]10:41PM[/editline]
Not quite, its still possible to create private servers, like in WoW, they are illegal thou. (I think they are.)
It might be against their regulations, but if they don't punish those that are doing it, and offer no service of their own, there is no problem with private servers. Usually nothing happens. And in this case it might be a good thing to cover a small percentage of the losses with retail.
If they couldn't make 32bit OS to hold its "full glorious graphics" at launch when the majority of people using 32bit OS, they really should had seen this coming. I feel bad for all the players that worked so hard on their customizations (thats mainly the only thing you gotta spend alot of time for in the game), and the devs for losing their jobs. Another MMO to the history book.

I doubt they wanted to cut support so soon. It is a real shame that this has happened, because the game really was starting to improve with the recent updates, but their business model was just far too flawed (And I'm not whining about the subscriptions, that was fine). http://lukehalliwell.wordpress.com/ Not sure if someone posted this, but it's a very good read for understanding what went wrong at RTW
no wonder it failed. that's what happens when you create a shit game with a shitty subscription plan.
Servers are down already...
RIP APB... I loved you even though you needed so much work.

A company can survive despite making a costly mistake. edit: someone mentioned they went bankrupt. Nevermind what i said.
I was really hyped about this game. Then I got into the beta and lost interest. This had a lot of balancing issues and made fair gameplay rough. I was considering getting back into it though
Whoa, beat the previous record holder, Hellgate: London. I really hope the people who bought this game get some compensation. :(
WHOA. 3 months? I'll bet all the people who spent money on this are never going to buy from Realtime Worlds again as long as they live. [editline]12:39PM[/editline] This has to be some kind of record
Realtime Worlds? Who are they? :smug:
Rest in piece, Funforthefirstfewweeksbutthengetsboringandyouragelikeabitchbecauseitsterriblyunoptimized Point Bulletin.
APB was a classic case of good idea, terrible execution.
I was gonna buy this game yesterday haha wow that would have fucking sucked
I still had 42 hours left to play, I'd only played it for 8. Fuck me.
Despite all the hatred, the game improved a lot. I'm sad to see it go, it was really fun.
They deserved it for making a a shitty game and not listening to the feedbak of the community
