APB was a classic case of good idea, terrible execution.
Sort of like MAG.

And why can't EA fund the servers.
Wow, that sucks. I hope they get third-party servers.
I am greatly enjoying the kids on SPUF complaining and demanding a refund/free games. The reviews were terrible BEFORE the game was released, so they were pretty much warned before hand.
nah fuck that, it does not suck to be the apb human avatar
id give my left nut to go through that transformation it'd be sick fun

Giving a nut is a bit to far, but yeah I would do it to.
Realtime worlds should've stuck with crackdown.
APB was a god awful game though.
I didn't mind this game. It was just too imbalanced. I was hoping for it to be fixed up with patches but it seems it hasn't even lasted long enough for that.
:frown:
Damn it, I bought it two days ago from Walmart.
Damn Quick, I'll say.
APB is down but Crime Craft is still going strong.
APB should come back as f2p.
Steam should give a free game out of kindness to those who bought it.

I'd much rather like it as "buy once, it's your game forever" with paid expansions. The pricing model was terrible and it feels like they were trying to make too much money too fast. $60 purchase, $10 monthly fee, and microtransactions on top of that.
If they removed the fee and microtransactions, I would have instantly bought that game.
So are private servers still going to work? :)
Whoa, beat the previous record holder, Hellgate: London.
I really hope the people who bought this game get some compensation. :(
I liked Hellgate: London :frown:
I feel bad for the people who bought it, and now they have a useless game.
What do you think will happen when [insert well-known MMO] will be taken down? People will have wasted tonnes of money AND time for nothing. All their hard work will just be deleted.
MMOs suck anyway.
What a waste of money for the people who bought it.
Steam should give a free game out of kindness to those who bought it.
Um no, that has absolutely nothing to do with Valve.

Oh well if it's subscription-based then fuck this shit.
RIP ABP, you were a great example of everything not to do when designing an MMO :911:
Cool, I bought it a month ago and wasted $50
the entire gaming industry is set to go this way

todays developers have the wrong attitude
I never played so I can't really say if it was a loss or not. The massive amount of customization seemed really cool though, hope to that in some future games.

It takes one dev to go down the shitter like this for them to rethink everything. If they cant change, more will fall like this until they figure out we are not going to take this shit.
Oh man and I actually considered buying this game, im glad all the reviews turned me away.
Why is it being shut down?
Valve should buy APB, take the customization portion and throw away the rest. Then make a really fucking sweet game.
Las it's probably being shut down due to lack of revenue.
That was really fucking quick. Private servers would be cool. :v:
Why is it being shut down?
Good ideas, shitty execution and crazy CEO who wasted money on corporation shit
I liked Hellgate: London :frown:
I did too actually. It was quite fun. It honestly felt like a 3d Diablo... which I guess is what they were going for lol. It's ok single-player, but multi-player was where it's at.
Hellgate: London is not the previous record holder. That is actually Auto Assault. Hellgate ran for over 2 years. Auto Assault only ran a bit over a year.

There was no monthly fee or microtransactions. You buy it for $60, and you get 60 hours of play (that is, if you preordered it. If you didn't preorder, you get 50 hours of play)
Sad to see this game go. I didn't get to play it much because my ping is too high to play it smoothly, but it was starting to get good with the patches.
Are you shitting me i bought the game yesterday! Why me!
*Ahem*
