Are you on a 32bit OS? Game always had problems with 32.
Nope. Win 7 Home Premium 64bit
epic could fix the performance if anyone can
Good. Maybe they can fix the game and optimize it. Seriously it ran really bad on my system when it should have run great. It would stutter every time I turned the camera.
Specs:
AMD Athlon II X2 2.7ghz
6gb DDR2 RAM
Nvidia GT240 512mb GDDR5
Not to mention it took forever to load other people's custom paint jobs on their cars. And it's not exactly like I have slow internet, I max out at 400kb/s download, which is higher than the requirement (that it said on the back of the game case) for the game.
Yeah, the whole loading thing pissed me off, I download at 1 Megabyte a second and it still took ages to load.

doesn't really bother me, the game had a really promising concept, but it failed hard in my eyes
I don't trust anything with the EA symbol to stick around.
I'm surprised ANY game can do so badly. 3 months is a ridiculously short time for the whole user base to stop playing a game.
*Ahem*

That is all.
I really hope they succeed, that way people will still be able to play.

The whole playerbase didn't stop, they were forced to stop.
The download server for APB on Action District is currently down. Does anyone have torrents of APB? I know there were officially hosted torrent files before.
I find it amazing how quickly APB destroyed itself.

The userbase was only like a few thousand. lol

Action District isn't even close to done yet.
Game sucks anyways

Point?
i liked the beta but only because it was free
You cannot play on the offical servers, But still on the private servers
My question is: what exactly were they doing those five years?
I know they switched engines, but what else was there? Getting the actual gameplay together?
If that's the case then its hard to say when they EVER stopped development considering the unfinished state and the continuous changes taking place soon after launch.
I just find it hard to believe how ill-prepared they were to deal with one of the most common, and predictable player behaviors in gameing:the constant quest for better weapons/armor/whatever.
From what I understand APB was supposed to be based upon Prestige and Noteriety. It was supposed to use these concepts not merely as gameplay mechanics, but as social ones as well. For instance; graphic artists and musicians were supposed to play a much larger role in the world, creating trademark clothing lines and such.
However, because of a massive oversight on the developer's part it seems, the enforcer faction seemed to have an innate ability to make more money than crims, and then sell their rewards and weapons for inflated prices, and eventually, the same would happen with high powered criminals who attained really high level gear.
The end result of course was a shift from character customization to basic survival.
People were less likely to get some fancy clothing or pretty car when all that would do is make for a well dressed rag-doll. It was much less expensive, and more convenient to load up a character with high powered weapons and armor than it was to spend time using the powerful customization suite the devs were so proud of.
I'm just amazed how they failed so miserably in incorporating that aspect of the game. Oh, and balance. and several other things one would imagine to be addressed and fixed with 5 years of development time.
Point?
Why download something that you can't use cause it's not working yet?

I'm sure if Epic buys out APB they'll do a major overhaul/bugfix, since the Unreal Engine is theirs and all.

I want my money back!
Lets get an action district group up and going. Whaddya say?
I'm not sure if anyone said this, but Realtime Worlds is bankrupt.
I just read this in Game Informer actually. Sorry if I'm late.
I'd try and give the private server a shot when it's up.. But then i'd have to buy the game which will probably be unable to be bought pretty soon since it's officially dead.
Fuuuuuuuck. Well, I guess I didn't miss out on much if it really was 'terrible'.
Even if the Game Servers are down for ActionDistrict. Would it still be possible to mess around with the Character Creator?

If Epic picks it up then I'll be more interested.
That reminds me, did they ever apply patch 1.4.2?
There are a lot of people talking about Epic picking APB back up, is there any actual information supporting this or are they just they expressing wishes? Because I think they could do some really good stuff with the game if they picked it back up, but I doubt Epic would do that.
