//Incoming Short Rant//
I like to play cooperative campaign at high difficultly levels with friends, who doesn't? But I have to make a short rant about the respawning in Co-op and the not using the Iron Skull.
Most of the time when me and friends start a campaign coop lobby, I ask the leader if we can use the Iron skull, To which these idiots always respond "Iron is the worst skull ever" simply because they have to reload a checkpoint when someone dies. They claim that turning Iron on makes the game instantly impossible, they've completed the game solo on legendary, so really isn't that Iron in a nutshell? Co-op with Iron feels about the exact same as Solo without Iron.
Without Iron, people abuse the respawn system to just get through encounters without any real effort at all. "one of us will wait at the back as a respawn point."
The Iron skull slows down the campaign a bit and makes everyone use some effort when they encounter with the enemy. It also makes the game feel a bit more realistic seeing as the great and powerful "masturcheef, arbitur and those 2 random elites" can't magically clone himself any time they die.
/Rant
Okay, that's the end of my short rant. Could I have a few opinions about the Iron Skull in Co-op here?
Are they going to fix the Sword Base credits exploit?
No. They mentioned it in the weekly update.
Awww yee i just fell in love with the Grenadier helmet with all the attachments, it's so badass. Now I just need Jorges chest and some mean looking shoulders and bam.. epic super solider penguin of d00m.
Are they going to fix the Sword Base credits exploit?
It's not an exploit and they're fine with it.
I would join, but I suck at legendary campaign.

re[ported
Hmm, Reach somehow felt cheap compared to past installments. They tried to get the character development of ODST and failed, the characters are strangers almost throughout. The only ones you really get a feel for both die just as you are starting to get them to know. At least in ODST each one had a mission fleshing them out.
The style is considerably, and I might add negatively, affected by current FPS fads and trends. First person cutscenes are stupid and immature, even ODST kept it to an absolute minimum, and only for the opening where you still had control of the camera. Reach is stealing action out of my hands and provides the worst possible view of it to boot. Gone are many of the usually amazing and beautiful cutscenes, replaced by this Call of Duty bullcrap. The story missions are short and lack connective tissue, even on Legendary which I usually never play on and with death upon death upon death it still felt short.
While a significant improvement on Eric Nylund's novel of the events, that isn't saying much tbh. The story is simplistic, devolving into the very "harrgh humans vs aleans" tripe Halo is usually accused of. While it does tie very nicely into the first game, that is the story's only virtue, there is no apparent deeper meaning nor do you even get a good feel for it with the clumsy characters and cheap cutscenes.
On the plus side the Halo engine really gets to stretch it's wings, the endless vistas from Halo 3 are bigger and badder. And the amount of stuff on the screen really impresses, sometimes too much as the framerate can take some nasty dives in pressed situations.
Design and gameplaywise we are way out in the left field, Reach did to Halo 3/ODST what Halo 3 did to the original two. Nothing is recognizable and the little that is, is a vague excuse for the original's perfection. The gameplay is tight and enemies really challenge you, more than ever, good thing. But allies are more retarded than ever, I swear the original marines were more competent. Allies frequently get stuck and one time I even had one teleport to me because he got locked out by a dynamic event he shouldn't have. Even the civilians would occasionally run to their deaths, it's hard to care for them when they are actively suicidal.
The mechanics have been revised, but it feels less complete somehow, Firefight and Co-op is extremely sensitive to even a minimum of lag, and if even a single packet gets lost that can be the game for you. I guess it was the same for Halo 3 and ODST, but you'd think they had fixed something like that by now. Multiplayer is riddled with potential for exploits, much like the classic BxR I suppose. And it feels a little too tough and out of touch. Whereas Halo 3 was a beautiful machine of perfect design, from bullet simulation to melee mechanics Halo 3's superior systems never faltered or played bullshit on you even in the worst of network situations. Reach is just more frustrating to play, but I guess everyone would love that since the bigger a frustrating POS something is the more popular it seems to become these days. Armor abilities however are a definite plus across the board. They shake up the gameplay nicely and are very well conceived, no minuses except it's weird that Brutes have armor lock even though they are naked most of them and don't even have shields (thank god.)
But I don't feel the multiplayer, armory credits can go to hell. Matchings seem frivolous and uncertain, whereas in Halo 3 you would have a really nice sense of progression in a playlist due to the easily visible Trueskill system that would upgrade you to more challenging enemies, bigger and better maps and gametypes. Matchings appeared nearly universally fair even in small populations and wide margins of error.
Plus according to matchmaking the only gun in the game is the DMR. Fuck that piece of shit, I like headshots as much as the next bloke, but dayum.

Somehow I feel the best bit of this purchase will be Halsey's journal.
Can't be bothered to read that.
(User was banned for this post ("Why reply" - Jimbomcb))
Then why could you be bothered to post that?
yo because he can ok
[editline]04:29PM[/editline]
leave him alone
I agree that the civilians are pretty stupid. For me, they, for lack of a better word, frequently ran right to the Brute with the gravity hammer.
Then why could you be bothered to post that?
Because its a lot quicker then reading your post.

Halo 3 has had a lot of patches, Reach hasn't. Give this part a little time.
Sure, I'll look forward to the next title update, I'm just talking about the current state of affairs. In the meantime I might actually go back to Halo 3.
Hey guys, I'm gonna remake Gephyrophobia from Halo PC.
get me reference pics plz
Also god damn those elites are too fast for it to be fair. :<
Especially when your aim is fucked up and grenades fly off to the left instead of dead center on your reticule like they bloody well should. Can't stick shit cap'n.
