legendary solo is hard, any tips on nightfall/tip of the spear?
I feel your pain. It seems that there are a bunch of macho tools in this forum these days (aw, I pine for the time a month ago in this topic when people were generally friendly and helpful to each other).
To answer your question, I've been using the plasma pistol A LOT in Legendary. It is an oft overlooked gun. Charge it up once or twice, take out the Elite's shields, then head shot.
Oh, and go slow and be patient. Playing on Legendary is when I wished for a cover system that was a little more like Gears.
Hey i have been having a hard time trying to make a map for invasion on forge world. Is that possible or do i have to make it a huge team slayer map instead?
Even when someone betrays me (Actually no, by correction i only do it to people who don't have mics that can't apolgoize for doing it) , i boot them.
That better be sarcasm otherwise, thanks for ruining the game asshole.
I wish I could play with you guys.

Me too.
H[sp]ey, I'm sure people have asked this, but I've been avoiding this thread for a week or two. I just beat the game and was confused at the ending..obvious spoilers.
The Pillar of Autumn, as far as I know, didn't land on Reach during "The Fall of Reach" novel. There was a gap where Master Chief was on the space dock trying to destroy the NAV data, where the Pillar of Autumn (I assumed) was in space waiting/defending Reach. Is this when the ship landed on Reach and when Nobel Six hands over the important data? And if so, did the Pillar of Autumn land only to pick the data up, or did it have to refuel or something? I thought Master Chief was only gone for maybe an hour or two, so that's a pretty short time to land on the planet and return in time to pick John up.
And is it mentioned anywhere as to what exactly the data was that Dr. Halsey gave to Nobel Six? I haven't read Ghosts of Onyx so I'm not certain if it was revealed there or not?
Looking back at the game, I'm surprised they didn't try and mention more from the Fall of Reach novel. Such as the giant ass space battle that happened at the beginning of the battle (in the novel), the one that Keyes misses out on because the Pillar of Autumn was on route to jump from the system. It would've been awesome if when you flew up into space as Nobel Six, you saw the remains of all the ships that were involved in that battle. Or if you could see it from the ground when you first start the game.
I was pretty surprised at how the covenant sort of just "appeared" on Reach too. I thought for the beginning of the game, there would've been a huge cutscene showing the covenant jumping into system and invading the planet, which would be where Nobel Team jumps in. It was still the best campaign yet, by far, but I guess I shouldn't have gone in with expectations like that. Jorge's death gave me goosebumps, he was my favorite Spartan, I was pretty happy at how he went out. The others sort of felt like they died for the sake of dying. And what ever happened to Jun?[/sp]
That aside, [sp]apparently in the FoR remake Blue team did not go to space, but rather on an UNSC ship that crashlanded on Reach during the battle. The PoA hadn't left Reach yet by then, so MC and Linda apparently went Cryo in it, and it lifted off and took off th Halo.
The "data" was actually a part of Cortana, designed to absorb knowledge from the Forerunner databank till the last minute so the real Cortana aboard PoA could get the nav info that eventually led them to Halo.
There was no space battle, since the game takes place before the actual battle in FoR / FS. The Covenant had a cloaked supercarrier teleporting in troops on one continent so they could retrieve the Forerunner databank before glassing the place.
To my knowledge, Jun escorted Halsey to CASTLE base and then disappeared.[/sp]
How could you?
Maybe with a Revenant / Wraith, dunno. I just wanted to know if anyone managed to do it.
I wish you could get in passenger seats of falcons in multiplayer.
It would be pretty irritating getting shot at and not being able to do anything, not to mention if you shot a full falcon down you'd kill almost everyone on the team.
Anyone else find it weird how its supposed to be before the actual battle but it feels like its already over and you're all thats left by the end of it.
Also I was under the impression that the covenant has never had teleportation technology and thought it was exclusive the the forerunners.
If they can teleport why use boarding craft?

The teleport shit eluded me, yes. To your first question, I hypothesized a scenario earlier, so posting my old post again:
[sp]So, basically the campaign of Reach only went up to the the start of the main battle, and your character presumably survived long enough for the planet's atmosphere and weather to get fucked up by the glassing, and to fight alongside the Spartans defending the planet. And they didn't show any of it. We don't even know if Jun died or not defending Castle Base which was pretty much the last stand spot on Reach. They could have included a couple of extra levels just having the chaos of the battle with a lot of voice chatter from the Spartans and ships in space about the battle, like Master Chief and blue team going to that frigate and picking up Johnson, and what not. And then end it with the final last stand at Castle Base with all the remaining UNSC troops. Like really show how big and important it was. But no, they pretty much just skip ahead to the point where you're the last guy standing. Like I guess they didn't want the story ending so depressingly so they ended it with you saving the day, but they shouldn't have pussied out since they had decided to go ahead and do a battle that ends so badly for humanity.[/sp]
Also: [sp]I've seen people treating the name "rally point gamma" with significance. Am I the only one who doesn't seem to understand the reference? Unless it has something to do with Gamma Company.[/sp]
Wow check this easter egg.. what a weird and cool thing

This makes me want to go into Campaign and fuck around trying to find cool stuff, I didn't really explore much in my first run through.
I wonder how long Bungie expected that or the Club to stay hidden. Probably a bit longer. Those guys are going through every level stepping in every single place they can apparently.
Forge or Gruntocalypse Farming.. hmm.
I'm working on an awesome looking fully co-ordinate edited map (ie perfect alignment, merging etc) and I have a great idea for a small close quarters map but I really want to get to Captain which takes like 100,000 credits.
I get more fun out of Forge compared to Gruntocalypse but Gruntocalypse allows me to level up so I can get the Armor I want.
arhhh
Gotta say warthog is shit now.
Enemys just spam DMRs at it until the driver/gunner dies or it blows up.
sword base was fucking hell on legendary
the first part wasnt that hard but after i got back and had to kill the 2 hunters THAT was fucking ridiculous
i think my time was over an hour, due to taking 15 minutes trying to figure out how to kill the hunters
I hope they put the halo 3 maps in eventually. I miss sandtrap, zombie game modes on that was so fun.
fast zombie with no health
convoy in warthogs while zombies chase you

im fine with any new maps
having forge is no excuse to ship a game with such a small selection of maps

agreed
and forge world feels constricted, too much water and mountains.
I want another Forge World type map with more unique gemoetry and differently themed forge pieces. Perhaps something more human-ey or whatever just something that isn't Forge Worlds current pieces. I mean they're fine but it would be nice to have some variation in maps.
need more flat lands
so much for automerge

I want Rat's Nest back. It was even more intense for convoys. Zombies dropped from the pipes above you on your Warthog.
If you're looking for a quick way to get the 200 grunt challenge complete I think I've found it.
On the second mission at the end were [sp]Kat is opening the gate and you have to defend, drop ships will keep coming[/sp] I would kill 20ish and die and it reloads the checkpoint right there.

Better way: Long Night of Solace, stay outside the facility, there will be endless dropships.
I know this sounds like a pretty stupid question, but how do you take screenshots in theater? If I recall, there was a button you pressed in Halo 3, but I can't find anything in Reach.
Hemorrhage sucks for all gamemodes i have played on it so far.
It's amazing fun on big team slayer

Press X to bring the menu up (if it isn't already), it's the picture of a camera at the very left.
Anyone up for some non-retarded Forge right now?

Yeah, this one's good. I'll try getting the next commendations for grenades, pistols and automatic weapons here for fun.
e: No wait, not really. It seems only one grunt comes out of one dropship.
Meh, I'll just play the campaign, hope I'll get the 200 grunt kills today.
Uh, what? Linda was on PoA, her cryopod was picked up from space after Halo 1, she was taken inside the Covenant flagship which MC, Johnson, and the other guys captured. When they returned to Reach, they found the destroyed hulk of Gettysburg, and restored the medbay to working condition. She was revived there.

Oh shit, I still need to use spoiler tags? I just assumed that most people wouldn't wander into this thread a week after the game's been out, if they are worried about being spoiled. I'd edit it but someone already quoted it.
[sp]I've actually read through the new FoR novel and nothing was changed, aside from some extras at the end of the book that don't really add much to the actual story (from what I gathered). If your interested in the bonus material, it's like the last 20 pages of the book - otherwise, the novel is exactly the same.
But it seems like many people are complaining that the game ruined the story from the novels - so apparently, there are some inconsistencies between the novels and the Reach game. I'm not really surprised, but I'm fairly certain the timeline of the PoA is a little wonky.
Judging from the devastation the covenant did to the planet during the Reach game, it seems weird that the game took place before the novels? The FoR book made it pretty clear that Reach was first attacked when the covenant slipped into the system, where the huge space battle followed. Once the battle was over, it was reported that dropships were invading the planet. I thought that this was where the Reach game picks up?
If the game did take place before this huge space battle in the novel, wouldn't someone notice the super carrier in space, along with reports of the events happening on the ground? You could see the devastation of the planet from space when you fly around in the one mission. Not to mention the game took place over a few days - a pretty big amount of time for a "cloaked invasion" to occur. Just seems inconsistent that's all, which is okay - the novel was written almost 9 years ago. Maybe the halopedia has the answers I'm looking for.[/sp]
I am now 110% sure Halo 2 on legendary is impossible.
I spent about an hour trying to get past the second boarding party on the first mission.
It doesnt help that when you die it deletes all dropped guns in the previous area so im left with a battle rifle with 20 bullets and a plasma pistol with 9 charge.
Gave up.
