Everytime I use armor lock I get beat down or surrounded by elites I thought it was supposes to have a huge knock back when used to full extent not a little knock back

I had some guy trying to kill me, I ran around a corner (and into a sniping nest) and cloaked. He came around the corner and decided that because he couldn't see me I was gone and started to snipe. Slamming my knife into his skull felt so good.
