I used to prefer Misa's pack, but now I just use the default textures.
Reading this thread gives you a feel for how diverse people's tastes are in regards to the look of this game. It seems a lot of people balk at the few things I like, and I don't like a lot of what people are suggesting. I've only seen a couple of texture packs that really suit my tastes.
I made a texture pack of my own just to turn clay bright red. I can see clay from just about any distance now. Works like a charm. :v:
I don't know what happened, but for some reason, when painterly was out of date, I started liking the default textures again.
I actually like most texture packs (I use Painterly, but Freden's looks really nice despite the fact it's practically the opposite of Painterly), but I don't tend to be too fond of HD ones, especially the ones that make Minecraft look like a 90s game with awful models and half-decent textures that are just photos.
I really like Mixcraft HD, it's really nice but doesn't overdo it. Other than that, the normal tex pack is alright for me.
Cobblestone isn't supposed to look nice, it's more of a raw material than a building material.
So an almost raw material looks worse than a completely raw material?
