If a Mob is chasing you when daylight comes, it will continue chasing you until you get far enough away, it dies, or you die. Skeletons and Zombies burn in sunlight though, and roaming Spiders won't attack you unless you strike first. Creepers will always attack you if you're within their sight range.

You are probably running out before exact daylight comes. You have to wait until the sun is at its very brightest, and then spiders instantly become passive.

Use this one. Technically there's one drop but it's the smallest drop you can do.

I can't be the only one thinking that the painterly pack just makes the game too dark. I don't like the texture packs overall, most of them make it look like the textures are more complex than they really are. I like the basic textures because they feel more classic and it fits the game.

I used to be skeptic. I tried playing creative on my own and was bored to death. Then the free-weekend came about, and I haven't been able to stop since. All it took was a little time to get into it, and the large amount of content in Alpha versus the free creative on the site is what got me hooked.
Ah, Nevermind my help request. I found my sheet of random minecraft texture blocks.
