I like to INVedit in a bunch of dynamite on a new save, and place it in a huge area, hit it, run the fuck away, and see the aftermath. Generally it's a huge ass mother fucking hole that looks awesome.
Oh yeah, I remember seeing that when it was just a bunch of stone textured hallways a long ass time ago. Holy shit it's gotten a lot better since then.

I hope someday Notch makes the equivalent of stairs for all block types.
Basically stuff like dirt that doesn't make sense as stairs would become little ramps. (They could appear naturally as well, sloped hills would look nicer)

I used my op to build things for 10 hours straight. Every time I seemed to finish something you would tell everyone to move to another place or even make a new map so I wouldn't even be able to work on my stuff anymore. I'm sorry I even added nice things to your server. I liked to help but people would still tell me I was a cheater by spawning blocks [b]even though this is a broken alpha of minecraft[/b]. This isn't survival. You can't even take damage. You think I like it when I've worked for 10+ hours on projects in your server and then you completely get rid of the map? Hell no that pisses me off more than anything and you still don't even let me have the save. Your server is pathetic. Just a bunch of kids trying to make their wasted time seem valuable to them by saying you have to dig for your rock, when the time spent doing it will not affect how long it takes to build. I'm moving on, away, far away.
All I'd like to see are stone stairs, the cobblestone stairs look really out of place in my buildings...

Lol luck_or_loss, I think Guniv's point is that you shouldn't view it as broken survival. If you don't want to dig for rocks, go find a creative server. The point of digging is it feels a bit more satisfying, at least for me.
