Good god. I can see myself spending a ton time having to reignite HUNDREDS of torches just because of this. I really hope Notch reconsiders, it's cool and all but it'll become really annoying in due time.

The torches thing is a good idea, once everyone has replaced their main ones with lanterns it will be fine, it's just that birthing period that will be horrible.

So I met this guy today, he seemed pretty cool. Went back to his apartment and he went on his computer.
He had minecraft on, knew where everything was, the inside and outside of about 7 caves which were far apart from each other, I asked him if he was autistic..

Also he had firefox with more than 50 tabs open at once and knew what each one was.

Fuck the whole idea of torches dieing. It would literally take me 3 hours to re-light my caves. DAmmit :smith:
The torches better burn for a long time before going out.. I'd hate refueling them every five minutes.

Use lanterns then. It's still alpha so you shouldn't get too attached to your creations to begin with.
Good god, I hope lanterns will be relatively easy to make, or...
Also, I don't want more and scarier monsters. I get scared by them just enough anyway. :saddowns:
But I like the "The deeper you are, the more lit up your stuff needs to be" thing. Guess my maniac torchspam will pay off.
I hope lanterns will be made out gold or something. Gold is SO useless right now.

I am really going to like this update. I always loved Halloween themed events. Really awesome. I wonder if laterns can be placed on bottom of blocks. Like hanging laterns.
