you're REALLY late, just read the previous 2 pages.
just for once...
Notch expressed an interest in adding a mob that only moves when you're not looking at it, and looks like an ordinary rock

Golly, the Halloween update looks like it will be amazing. Hopefully he at least releases one fish before October 31, I really want to try fishing.

Minecraft is honestly the scariest game I have ever played. Even with only 4 monsters.

I'm really wondering how he will pull of fishing in a good way.
The article above was in the North Bay Nugget today, as well.
Minecraft is lookin' to be the next 'big thing,' as if that wasn't already well established. I'm just waiting on the hundreds of blatant ripoffs.
... Still need to try it, too. Damn.
Looks like quite a few Canadian newspapers are grabbing the same story.
Maik naw trheed.
wow, looks like its gonna turn more into an adventure game than a building game. thats cool and all, but one of the reasons i got this game was to chill and just build some shit, and maybe kill a few monsters, but looks like its gonna get more harder and complex with the update.

I was scared as hell when I first heard the Slime sounds. "Click, Click, Click."

Heard of this for a while now, but goddamn, I really hope all the torches I already put out will turn into lanterns or something. I used torches to light up my huge staircase, which eventually touches bedrock, so I'm going to be screwed when that happens.
Dear everybody that was complaining about Notch not working: You have been thoroughly owned.
Also, I'm whittling away at my texture pack. I got rid of the grid-type style from the grass and dirt, made sand, and am currently working on a nicer version of the ores. I'll post some pics when I get farther.
Holy balls, I just landed the best spawn EVER. Let me try to take a panoramic picture.
Could painterly be the reason for my newfound lag?
[editline]03:51PM[/editline]
It started a couple hours after I installed painterly, FYI.
Oh god what has Minecraft turned me into?!
I was going to test the MoH Open beta
Instead i played Minecraft for like 6 hours straight. Not doing anything, just kind of sitting around wondering what i should make

He's given himself a month to do it you brilliant man.
How many of those?
I do believe when the editor was rendering it said 0.1 million blocks so that's around 50,000-149,999 assuming it rounds to the closest hundred thousand.
It crashed anyway, just turned black screen and was eating up my processor constantly. I think if I'd left it to compute for several hours I could have got a result. I did some smaller ones anyway, I'll post them later.

Maybe it could be something like fishing as Big in Sonic Adventure 1. Just cast out a line and reel it back in, there could be a little bar on the right for line tension, and you'll be able to see the fish in the water(but of course rarer deep fish you wont be able to see because it'll be too dark), when your lure passes a fish it will look at it and decide weather it wants to bite or not, and if it does bite you'll hear a little chime and maybe there could be a splashing effect in the water. While reeling it in you'll have to watch your tension to make sure the line doesn't break. When you catch a fish it'll go into your pocket, and will not be stackable. You can release the fish by dropping it(this would allow you to make aquariums, as long as Notch makes it so creatures don't disappear when you walk away from them), and of course you'll be able to cook and eat them like bacon. There should be a good number of fish with varying rarities, and a bad fish, like a shark or something (creeper fish).
That's just me being optimistic though.

When did I say that he did it? This is proof that he cares about his audience and isn't just sitting around doing nothing.
The torch thing is a bad idea and Notch should feel bad.
How do I install these HD texture packs, do I just put them in the folder like usual or do I need to do something else?
The torch thing is a bad idea and Notch should feel bad.
It's a great idea. Its way too easy right now to make "safe" zones right now. You can still keep your house and such permanently lit with lanterns, but now you can't go make 200 torches and light up every cave within a square mile. This makes exploring more challenging.

I agree, but replacing all your torches is going to be annoying at first - although everyone will likely start a new map because I doubt you'll be able to keep your current map AND have biomes.

Oh shit, your'e right. Ill need a new map for the biomes. Thats depressing :smith:

"Yes, I caught something" *reels in* "It's a... SSSSSSSssssss"
I am personally very excited for new monsters. I was really hoping Notch would add a much harder difficulty, as playing on hard right now doesn't really pose much challenge. I would love a "challenge" mode where maybe monsters could destroy doors or something and there were tons of them knocking at your base every night.
I wonder how you will get into this new "Hell" dimension, it reminds of stephen king's the tower, in the book if you moved a few feet in the land where the tower exists, then you move a long distance in the real world.

Not necessarily.
New landscape generates as you move to new parts.

The fast travel is going to be weird if I understand correctly.
You do something to enter fast travel, and then all of the sudden, you're in this world of lava, darkness, and creepers galore. :ohdear:
