The reason I use helmets for this is because gas masks don't fit the minecraft theme very well, so I need to keep within most boundaries.
Gas masks do seem a bit out there when it comes to Minecraft, but using the helmets for it seems like a good idea. I like the idea of that corrosive gas in the hell world. Maybe you can make gold containers to hold the gas instead of iron buckets, so they don't corrode.
Yeah it would, right now, gold has very few practical uses. This would give a bigger reliance on gold now.
http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1012&t=29244 It is awesome, it adds gold many uses. I wish Hangover would install it on his servers.

Well nevermind, I'm too lazy. So here's a rough estimate:
XGX GgG GGG G = Gold g = Glass X = Empty Would create a small golden bottle for holding natural gas. The bottle can hold up to 10 units.
XGX GPG XPX X = nothing G = gold/iron/whatever bar P = paper/cloth [editline]01:39AM[/editline] Helmet with a filter easy
Minecraft.net down for anyone else?
DireAvenger, sour gas would be a giant pain in the ass. Perhaps it should only exist in hard mode.
I'm uploading the files for Minecraft so anyone that doesn't have it can download it.
yesssssssssssssssssss [editline]12:53AM[/editline] Notch, fix your fucking website right now.
it's been down for hours [editline]02:52AM[/editline] I'm uploading the files for Minecraft so anyone that doesn't have it can download it.
> Pirates?
DireAvenger, sour gas would be a giant pain in the ass. Perhaps it should only exist in hard mode.
This is why I said "Enabled in options menu" for those who wish to use it. It would disable surface gas and make the underground gas not deadly.
I thought I was so clever building a lava pit outside my house. I could run past it to lure monsters to their doom, so I could cut down trees at night... So clever. First attempt ended with me falling into my own monster-killing-lava-pit while I spider chased me. All that diamond.... Just... Gone. Edit- natural gas could also give us a reason to use red stone torches.
> Pirates?
You still need to log in, so no
> Pirates?
They need to activate the .exe with the server, which requires an authentic login. So wouldn't that make this useless?
They need to activate the .exe with the server, which requires an authentic login. So wouldn't that make this useless?
The free weekend people can play it as they already authorized it.
When making my texture pack, the doors and windows were not see-through-able. How do i fix this?
People that want the files to play portably but cannot download due to mc.net being down? :downs:
Or they can wait? :downs:
When making my texture pack, the doors and windows were not see-through-able. How do i fix this?
Look through them Or do some weird transparency thing with <Program here>
Look through them Or do some weird transparency thing with <Program here>
Thats what it was, i forgot transparency, on a lot of stuff.
Alright guys, I found a guide (Maybe late) On how to put Minecraft on a Flash drive. I did not write this
Here's how to have a portable version of Minecraft. This will allow you to carry your game on a USB key. You can play without an internet connection. Note that: Java must still be installed on the host computers for you to play your game. You must have at least play the game online once, for Minecraft to download its files. Create the following directories: minecraft minecraft\bin minecraft\data Copy Minecraft.exe in minecraft\bin Copy your .minecraft directory in minecraft\data Your .minecraft directory contains the worlds and is located in your user profile (c:\Users\yourlogin\AppData\Roaming\ under Vista, or C:\Documents and Settings\yourlogin\Application Data\ under Windows XP). Then create portable_minecraft.bat file, containing the following instructions: set APPDATA=%CD%\data bin\minecraft.exe Then simply double-click portable_minecraft.bat to play the game! Original FAQ by sebsauvage on CCM
Although you can't activate it right now, you can make everything function besides the game beforehand. Also, put the .bat file in the Minecraft folder next to bin and data like this Also, to create the .bat file, you have to save it as a .bat BEFORE SAVING IT AS A .TXT.
Guys what are you all talking about I wasn't here for the whole day
Minecraft.net is down Thats all I can see
Well crap, paint.net won't install, does gimp have transparency support?
Tutorial Here
Thanks, now I can finally play at school when I'm done with my work. :buddy:
Pretty much the exact shape I was thinking of, except the middle area would have a small shape of glass to indicate whether or not there is gas contained.
Then something like this? I don't make sprites very often.
Then something like this? I don't make sprites very often.
That's actually really nice.
Well crap, paint.net won't install, does gimp have transparency support?
Of course it does. That's why I use it! (and because it's free....)
Then something like this? I don't make sprites very often.
That is almost perfect for what I had in mind. The gas could be used to power the powered-minecarts and furnaces for a bit longer than a bucket of lava. Maybe it can have more uses when Notch creates the basic alchemy.
Maybe hell biomes could get "acid geysers" that spit out small clouds of acidic gas, that congregates into a big cloud and moves either North, South, East or West on random picking. The cloud is deadly to breathe by players. It would force the player indoors for a small amount of time unless they own an iron or better helmet which will slowly degrade when inside the cloud. (Gold is better than iron) However, you will only last as long as your oxygen meter does in water when wearing a helmet in the acidic cloud, so it would be best to create small bunkers not too far apart with airlock systems, or a tunnel to a place you need to often visit externally. These surface gas movements can be disabled in the options menu. Remember that your oxygen meter will only last as long as the grade of your helmet. Leather caps = Not long enough to count (around 3 seconds) Iron helmets = 30 seconds Gold helmets = 1 minute Diamond helmets = 2 minutes Sometimes acid clouds will also spawn randomly in isolated rooms deep underground, that will release the gas when mined into by a careless miner. You can tell there is an acid cloud on the other side of a wall you are mining because the wall will make a redstone glow effect and a small hissing sound. The acid cloud can and will explode on contact with torches, fire or creepers. The gas can be harvested in buckets (or a new container object) for long time use in furnaces or other fuelled appliances. Tl;Dr: Natural gas
This is just like you're blowout idea, but better.
*LALALA IGNORE THIS* Found em
