To be honest, I think that the way people are acting is more likely to push him away from finishing the game. I know that if I had 50,000 people screaming at me and constantly saying I'm letting them down when I'm actually doing what's in the best interest of both them and myself (as related to the game, I mean) I would be far more likely to just drop the project.

That is what I was afraid of as well. One guy commented on one of the many RPS articles about Minecraft, saying that Notch was the biggest asshole he knew. That he acted like a bitch towards everyone, and how he generally was a douche. That guy got shot down pretty good though when someone linked to the podcast I mentioned. I listened to it, and Notch sounds like a normal guy, just like you and me. But also listening to that podcast relieved some of the fears I had. He has great plans for the game it seems, and he is still saying he will work on it long after it is finished, even if his company makes another game at that time. Maybe having someone type down the key points he is talking about there can get people to understand that the "break" from development will ultimately be great for the game.

He would only have to generate chunks directly adjacent to the player if he was falling because he's not going to be moving horizontally, really small chunks.
Besides, most of the time you won't fall through ground, you'll be digging. You don't dig down faster than you can move in a boat.

You need to add some darkness outline for the middle of your page so you can read things easier. Also, there's not much point to putting your name over the original image, since you can easily get the original image just from your YouTube page source. It's very nice though.
