PVE you'll be fine but you may come across people in PVP that have played for a long time with rare ingame gear that they paid for with diamonds. There isn't any equips that are sold in the item store (not any decent ones) but people sell rare sets all the time, but they're usually overpriced anyway.
I would suggest starting on Reni (PVE) for now, then once you get a good grasp for the game, go PVP. Eventually you'll probably spend money on this, but you'll spend FAR less on this game than you ever would for a monthly payment MMO. For example, one of the most expensive items in the item store is one of those custom looking, permanent mounts. Those are only 395 diamonds, and right now 600 diamonds are 20 bucks. Then you can spend the rest on tons of EXP potions and other shit like that.
Whenever I start the game, it is extremely laggy, especially the starting menu.
My computer runs all kinds of other games fine.
Are there any fixes for this?

I have a level 17/16 Mage/Knight in the Osha server. For those of you that don't know, The elite skills for that combo gives your mage massively powerful light attacks and the knight is a tank. I joined a guild yesterday, but I'll abandon it to make a Facepunch guild on that server once I have the money (I just need 50K more)

I really would consider making a character on Reni. I don't plan on remaking my Mage/Priest, just because it is a waste of time, knowing how long I spent doing those collecting quests and getting my nice mage set. If you don't mind, would you consider moving to Reni?

i'm sorry to say but those specs are just awful
it IS a new game, and since it's an MMO it's bound to lag anyway with all the players. you should consider investing in a new PC.

If I can confirm 5 or 6 active FP members playing this, I'll setup a guild soon. We need 4 members to become a real guild. The more FP members we get in our guild the more benefits we get, which is why being all on one server is important. I'm going to leave membership open too, because we (probably) won't get enough FP members to form a very big guild.
I'm going to install this soon, but I think I'm going to be making my character on the Indigo server because 2 of my friends are on there.
I'll stick with Europe, not too fond of American servers.
I'm downloading the 3.4 (!?) GB installer, and I'll sign up after it's installed.
I don't really like MMOs, but for some reason I feel drawn to free ones.

I tell you what. If I can get you, your friends, and a few others to play on Reni, I will run you through the game and the quests for the first two decent armor sets (the logar champion sets and the silverspring set)
I don't think you'd like Indigo anyway, unless your friends play 24/7 it's going to be hard to get a decent group going. When I played Indigo (for the very short time that I did) there seemed to be hardly any people there, and the ones that were there were people who were trying to win the Alienware laptop, i.e spending tons of money on EXP potions and the like so they could max out their levels first. Why on earth would you consider PVP against those kinds of people?
Reni is a good server because there are plenty of people playing (we got a 2 group raid going in an open instance yesterday) but not so many that it's overwhelming like Artemis. Artemis isn't the good kind of overwhelming either because the majority of the playerbase is already 52/52 so they don't hang out in the noob areas. Since Reni is newer the majority of players are in the earlier zones, which is a good thing.

If any of you are interested in what some of the better armor sets look like, here's my mage. I unequipped his belt because it looks dumb and his gloves because (for me) they're glitched and glow or something and I haven't been able to fix it. In-game you can set the visibility of certain equipment pieces, so I can say equip a helmet and then turn the visibility off if I don't actually want it on.

Signing up was actually surprisingly fast. It was, like, 2 seconds.
It was the patching that took FOREVERRRRRRR
Other than that, I'm playing on the American Reni sever as a Scout. Named... "Oaken" I think. Pretty damn fun, actually. Only thing is, I fear I may have wasted too much TP on skills that won't be useful later on. I'm still in the first town. Just got my house.
The patching isn't taking that long, it's that one 552MB patch that takes a while, and that's right near the end.

it adds an aggro meter, more stats in your quest tracker (location of the quest giver, the XP and gold rewards, etc) and it converts enemy HP from a percent into an actual number

Your account would be saved on a server. You can't lose your characters because you formatted your computer.

Why would I go on only Reni? I'm going to make the Osha division for my main character and all Facepunchers on that server. Then, on Reni, I'll join the Facepunch clan. That is, unless there is a rule I didn't know about that says you can only belong to one guild across all of the servers.

I started a tank build once, I would recomend Knight/Scout because of the combined skills you get (Forget what they are called now). They mainly add things that keep the agro on you and root the monster, plus if you know what you are doing as a knight you SHOULDN'T run out of mana.

First time playing kindof, I got a level 12 rogue but that was just to test the game. :v:
i've also seen a few knight rouges but most tanks in the game are knight/priest so they can heal themselves when they need to
Knight Rouge if you want more DPS, Knight Priest if you want survivability, Knight Scout if you want to be able to aggro better and root
