I keep hearing that malady is a bad item. Can someone tell me why? It's seems like a good item for a dps, since it gives Attack spd and life steal.

Cause its on-hit is terrible and you can get better items for a similar price.

Malady is a situationally good item. It should only be used on select heroes, ie Twitch as a cheap way of increasing his dps and getting him to attack speed cap and giving him some life steal too. I use it on Shaco too even though I feel like an idiot doing it but it really helps with his clone and madreds you just tear people apart.

Something like sword of the divine is a lot better than malady for AS, especially with people like Twisted Fate who already have an effect every 4 attacks. SotD also has a nice active which gives 20 armor pen and makes your attacks undodgeable for a few seconds, making it extremely useful against tanks and dodge gayers like Jax.

For good reason.

Allows me to be AS capped and do the most possible damage not to mention the lifesteal is what lets me stay out in the field.
