I can never find aug canisters in Deus Ex.
I've only found one, and it was in the first level.
Same. The last 4 I found in the end of the game.
So is this game going to be strictly linear or will we have some freedoms? I'd rather have hubs with a main quest part and then 4-6 side quests and some exploration. Kinda like how Invisible War handled it (yes I liked it.)
Who of you guys is going to get the Augmented Edition?
Already preordered it. :3

well there we go, nice knowing the plot in advance and all

please explain
Seraf Industries is affiliated with the Illuminati
at some point they break away and form MJ12

The similarities are mundane. UNatco is affiliated with MJ12 not Sarif. besides, we kind of already know the future, what with this being a prequel
no, unatco most likeley starts out as Independent, mj12 slowly takes control of them
Take care of fake clues. The eye holding hand might be a trap to lure you into thinking there is a link as well.
If this has the same depth as Deus Ex 1 I'm drown in my own tears of joy.

Is the Augmented Edition the ultimate edition, or will there be an even greater edition?

It's safe to assume it's the highest.
Out of curiosity, what's the split of people in this thread that believe Deus Ex 3 will be a good successor and people that believe it's going to be a shitty mainstream game with some Assassin's Creed elements that borrowed the Deus Ex title just to sell better?
Please rate accordingly:
"I think this game will be great and maybe even better than the first one"
"I think it's going to be good, but I doubt it'll be able to reach the original"
"I think Eidos will probably try, but disappoint the fanbase like with Thief 3 or several Tomb Raider games"
"I think it'll be just some mainstream where you drag the character from one kill sequence to another. No way it'll be as good as the original"
Rated zing since I'm becoming cautiously optimistic
I'm usually terribly negative, that way I don't get hyped and before I know it, the game is there
Gameplaywise, no doubt it will be better than the original.
Story wise, not so sure. There isn't too much info on it yet.

Well, open level design and multiple paths factor into gameplay as well, and we can't be sure about that yet
I'd rather take shitty shooting and lots of choices over good shooting but linearity

As you can see from the gameplay trailer, it seems that there will be a lot of alternate paths. In the beginning, you had the choice to go through that vent (granted you had the aug) or possibly a longer path. In other parts, you can easily see other pathways you can chose.
I don't trust trailers.
People need to start thinking this is a great game on its own rather than wanting it to match the original so badly.

I WAS going to get the augmented edition, but since I am getting the regular one for free from Steam then meh.

This, wouldnt people bitch if the game was just the first deus ex but with different setting and better graphcis ? Well...the first deus ex was great. But there is this thing called originality.
Zing'd, waiting for AU. . . .

Since it's a sequel (well prequel, whatever) to an existing series of course it's going to be compared.

Yeah but people are more bothered about it being like the original as much as possible rather than a good addition to the series.
There hasn't been any good additions to the series yet, I think people have the right to be cautious
Besides, if a game is too different, why keep it as a sequel at all?

Too different is changing up what the game is about. The entire purpose of Deus Ex was giving power to the player through choices. That is exactly what DX:HR is trying to do.
Gameplay isn't THAT different but the more drastic changes in gameplay have people shook up. IMO, the changes aren't as bad as people make out. Multi-path and Multi-choice are still there as is the conspiracy/cyberpunk theme.

I don't want to betray my credo either, but the trailer just looks so fucking beautiful it's just asking to be raped.
No, seriously, I thought it was very damn pretty. I can't say I'd like a movie built around it, but I really enjoyed both watching and listening to it.
Looking at the graphics I'll probably have to install a secondary OS to make full use of my 4GB RAM (currently not using everything due to 32bit XP) and even then I'll be... should a Q8200 Quadcore, the RAM above and a GeForce 9600 GT be enough to run it on good settings? I sure hope so. Some newer games run pretty well on it, but Prototype for example only runs on 17fps... not sure if that's because of the OS/incomplete RAM access.
(sorry for clogging this post with my specs)

I think it will be better because I am a sucker for graphics.

Its not really a sequel, Its just in the same universe; Like how you can play any ratchet and clank game by its self and not be confused. (for the most part). That is what I think this one will be like.

Have almost the same specs, except I've got a 2.4 Dualcore.
