April.

No real new info but that big shot is interesting. He's either wearing a ruff or the lighting is weird on his collar. Hopefully they didn't delay just to add a ruff.
square enix decided they just can't release a game without one [editline]5th January 2011[/editline] I hate how it refers to legendary titles in plural
I don't think I ever got the cloak in Deus Ex yet I played through the whole game using Stealth and trying to avoid killing :v: Oh well, it's more fun that way
There's a cloak for bots/cameras and a cloak for humans. Should have picked the other cloak. Humans are docile in DX so its pretty easy to avoid them.
Oh but this Thermo-something-suit is supposed to cloak you from bots as well, what about that?
Think Fallout 3 meets BioShock
Sooo...... Extremely shitty meets quite boring? [editline]6th January 2011[/editline] :smith:
Why are they even comparing it to those. Just say "Deus Ex, but a modern sequel"
Why are they even comparing it to those. Just say "Deus Ex, but a modern sequel"
Yeah, Deus Ex has proven to be it's own standard and league. You cannot explain Deus Ex by comparing it to other games.
Usually I hate comparing games although sometimes its the only way to convey what it is. Hard to do that with Deus Ex.
Yeah, Deus Ex has proven to be it's own standard and league. You cannot explain Deus Ex by comparing it to other games.
I think they have to compare it to other games for the console kids.
Sooo...... Extremely shitty and quite boring? [editline]6th January 2011[/editline] :smith:
describing something as "x crossed with y" is the laziest way to describe anything anyway
describing something as "x crossed with y" is the laziest way to describe anything anyway
Pretty much. I didn't mind it before but so many people these days HAVE to compare stuff to something else. People have tried comparing DX:HR to Metal Gear Solid 4 and Assassins Creed purely due to minor comparable things, it still pisses me off when people think one game owns a specific thing like MGS4 owns muscular design for armor/suits.
God help they need to fix those bugs, but she say it was a beta anyway.
Comparing it to something is the easiest way of explaining it would reading paragraphs. If you have played a game, you have a certain knowledge about its qualities and strengths and that's what Devs try to combine when saying "It's like X meets Y!". It's not correct, but it does the easy trick that marketing wants and it's simple to inform users that are not familiar with these franchise.

They instantly think its going to be a direct copy of that game because thats what most games these days are doing, just copying directly from another game. [editline]7th January 2011[/editline] "New Ask JJB video going up this afternoon, as well as a new Steam code for Deus Ex 1 and 2." You’d be surprised at how many of us actually do read your comments on a variety of articles and forums concerning Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Whether it’s a thread about health regen (again…) or a comment about the faint floral pattern on Adam’s trench coat, chances are we’ve seen it! Your voices are being heard! We really do appreciate your comments, and hope they never stop. That said, I’m nearing the end of my role on the project and putting on the final touches to the game. I wanted to reflect on the past development and give you a peek at some of the challenges the level design team had to face when developing Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The biggest rule for us level designers, by far, was to always keep in mind the idea of “Multi-Path, Multi-Solution” for practically every challenge we wanted to lay down for the player. Basically what that entails is for every obstacle we set, there is always a variety of ways to progress past it; with some methods being more obvious than others. This is very reminiscent of the design philosophy found in the original Deus Ex … a design which promotes emergent game play. One of the reveals from gamescom was showing the Police Station level and how there were four different ways (Combat, Hacking, Stealth, and Social) to play through it. The truth of the matter is that there are far more than just four different ways to progress through that level. There are so many different ways to progress through that I couldn’t possibly list them all; and chances are there are even methods to progress through that we haven’t even thought of! While at first glance that seems like a nightmare for a level designer, what ends up happening is our level designs promote multiple playthroughs in order to try out many different styles of play. All we have to ensure is that we’ve provided the tools and the environment for the player to just explore, imagine, and act-out their creative solutions. The downside to this open and emergent style game play is that there are a lot paths and features that we designed that most players will never see! We hope you all try playing through the game multiple times, using different styles of approach, and exploring every nook and cranny and possible option that we’ve made available to you. Until next time… Ciao!
Ask JJB. Are there Lean Keys in the PC Version? [sp]Be disappointed[/sp]
I bought Deus Ex in Holiday Steam Sale and now I am at the part where [sp]You are with Paul on the Ton after you send the signal to the rebels[/sp] and I wanted to know if [sp]Paul[/sp] can die and if I need to constatly watch him for him to survive or if the only way for him to die is for you to exit through the window. [sp]Be disappointed[/sp]
I don't care, I never used them in any FPS anyway.

For those of you who were confused over the fact that some weapons were advertised as being pre-order only, here's a comment on that: Q: Will the standard edition have lesser/different versions of the remote explosives (M-28) and the Grenade Launcher or not? A: Every weapon that's included in the pre-order packs has an analog in the standard game in some form or another. You won't be missing out on the possible functionality if you choose not to get a given pack, but you will lose the presence of these non-upgradeable pre-specialized versions. For example, it's been announced previously that you can mix 'n' match various grenade types with different deployment mechanisms. You're really not missing out either way when it comes to the weapons. All you get there are some shiny extras. No, the real difference is whether you want the extra mission or the extra credits. (Jerion) Source: http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=115011 Also, a comment on the delay: Q: Release date delayed? eidosmontreal‎ The news is true. Deus Ex has been delayed. We're excited to have this extra time to polish the game before sending it off to all of you. (Twitter)
So getting the preorder with the extra level is the best choice.
Or simply getting the Augmented Edition for 10 more dollars (which is the same price as the standard Xbox 360/PS3 version of Deus Ex: HR)

With the cover system, first-person leaning becomes redundant. also I just built a new computer so I should be able to run DH:HR when it comes out
You know I think I would just try to get rid of those extra credits I hate the idea of having the game be easier for me because I preordered it, takes out the fun
You know I think I would just try to get rid of those extra credits I hate the idea of having the game be easier for me because I preordered it, takes out the fun
Where's the problem? Turn up difficulty or don't use the items. [editline]8th January 2011[/editline] Honestly, all those gimmicks are most of the time horribly useless once you advance in the game. All this stuff you start with especially. It's just there to trick people into preordering games, before there are actual reviews telling us if it's a proper sequel or not. At least I have a feeling these people won't screw us all over.

Just because the graphic tech is old doesn't mean the designs aren't there.

This is just a nice little bonus for fans I guess.

Most pre-orders I make are known quantities so I've never had that problem, my reason for preordering this (other than thinking it looked good) was the Augmented Edition being priced the same as the regular, I do like extra stuff.
I rarely preorder things anymore, but if something's going a way I don't like, I can just transfer the money to a different, more desirable game. I think the money I have on brink right now has been on 3 other games previously.
