So I've had Deus ex 1 & 2 on steam for over a year and ive never touched them, What exactly are the games about and what kind of style is the games other than FPS?
Play them or you won't get it. Augementation of humans, engineered viruses, government conspiracies, Illuminati. Seriously: Play them...
Installing both atm, Do the games support high resolution or do i have to play it at a really low resolution?
Installing both atm, Do the games support high resolution or do i have to play it at a really low resolution?
I think Deus Ex 1 does, don't know about 2 though, I never played it.
Installing both atm, Do the games support high resolution or do i have to play it at a really low resolution?
Wow, glad you play them. Default max resolution is 1024x768, but take a look at this: http://kentie.net/article/d3d10drv/ http://www.cwdohnal.com/utglr/ A custom launcher can help if the new drivers won't load: http://coding.hanfling.de/launch/ I'm currently using the DX10 one, allows me to play on natural screen resolutions. [editline]10th February 2011[/editline] Be sure to use a HD texture mod as well: http://www.moddb.com/mods/deus-ex-new-vision/downloads/deus-ex-new-vision-public-beta
Installing both atm, Do the games support high resolution or do i have to play it at a really low resolution?
I think Deus Ex 1 supports 1280x720, don't know about 2. Also it isn't a game where you can be a straight-up FPS hero, at least in the first half. The first level puts off a lot of new players because of this.
I think Deus Ex 1 supports 1280x720, don't know about 2.
I play at 1280x1024.
In my opinion it's better to play the game without any mods on your first playthrough.
It doesn't change any weapon damage values, only removes the suck of ultra low resolution textures. [editline]10th February 2011[/editline] This is not fakefaktory the whole textures look basically vanilla.
I was bummed that one of the HQ packs had only one HD character model. :(
I was bummed that one of the HQ packs had only one HD character model. :(
Oh I think you grabbed Deus Ex HDTP instead of New Vision. I want the characters to be unchanged so I only got the latter one.

My Deus EX GOTY edition on steam support 16:10 [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/xnpK7.jpg[/img_thumb]
Thats weird.. My Deus EX GOTY edition on steam support 16:10 [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/xnpK7.jpg[/img_thumb]
I would have expected nothing else from Steam, it's always up to date.
Game is okay so far but I have lots of framerate drops, It keeps at steady 60 most of the time but it goes down to 25 from time to time in firefights and its getting annoying,HD 6850 btw.

You really should check those DX10 drivers, I run it on a HD4870.
I would have expected nothing else from Steam, it's always up to date.
Steam doesn't have a very good track record of running old games on modern computers to be honest, I'd rather give that prize to GoG.
My comic order is still processing, I'm actually quite pissed now given that I could have probably bought it digitally.
One more thing about the resolution, DX1 works fine even at 1920x1080, but you might want to download this mod that makes the HUD not look like shit at anything above 1024x768.
Are there any good mods for IW?
wow how the fuck are you guys running it at resolutions higher than 800x600. that's all it gives me
Steam version, or maybe just the Game of Year Edition.
I'm chronologically confused about Deus Ex at this point. 2027 - Introduction of mechanical augmentation and rocket helicopters 2052 - Deus Ex but they go back to bladed helicopters? 2072 - Invisible War back to rocket copters

The UNATCO was under budget cuts and they couldn't afford all the rocket fuel.
Is it really so hard to see that there were technical limitations? Its not sensible to change the whole theme of one game based upon the limitations of another. It would be like GTA4 being top down because the first two were like that.

Apparently in the game's canon the engineers had to sacrifice the rocket fuel functionality for radar invisibility and firepower.
Apparently the comic has some spoilers for the game. But its only small details not really heavy plot details.
Apparently the comic has some spoilers for the game. But its only small details not really heavy plot details.
The way I got it is that the comics have a different plot from the game and that the end of Issue #1 hinted at [sp] someone attacking Sarif Industries or Jensen in Issue #2[/sp] but everyone thought they were talking about Human Revolution. I think they posted like 4 times saying "The comics are completely seperate from the game and only have some extra fleshing out of the universe"

My order is still processing. I think they fucked it up.
They do mention things like what happened to him and rival companies though right? My order is still processing. I think they fucked it up.
I have no idea, I only read that on Eidos Montreal's forums, I don't actually own the comic. There was an informative post on the forums there tough about the nature of the spoilers and how to avoid them since it's only 8 speech bubbles or so:
The only was I see for that (the comic spoilers aren't game spoilers) to be true is if the comic is a completely alternative universe, but the way it's written it seems it's just positioned before the main game and after the attack/Adam's augmentation procedure, with some timeline skips due to certain parts otherwise not making sense (so far, that could be also attributed to missing info), since it references some game events (what we know of them through the trailers and previews) so much. Just to clear up a bit on the nature of "the three": it's referring to [sp]two deaths (in-game timeline, not in-comic); one is early on in what I know of the game's timeline so far (the one that made me most angry, although re-checking a lot of media and it's actually kind of funny how many hints are out there...), one I can't determine the timing for. The third is a theoretical link to DX1 [/sp]and I honestly didn't mind learning that one at all, but it's still kind of big to an oldschool fan and it would have been about ten times as impressive to get it in-game rather than in-comic. The entire point of the spoiler wall was for folks that wanted to "read the comic book before the game to find some nifty new info" to be able to get that information, while avoiding actual game spoilers. It's kind of a downer that the first issue is kind of neat, except for 5-6 speech bubbles out of 21 or so pages (not counting the spreads), which in my opinion shouldn't have been put there prior to the game's release, period. The DC Online paging system is kind of awkward and doesn't list any, so I counted manually (two-page spreads are counted as two pages), in which case if page 1 is the cover, it's P17 and P19 (the red-marked bubbles are the troublesome ones): Page 17, Page 19 If you avoid these pages/bubbles, the comic becomes safely readable again.
[sp]Basically it's 2 ingame deaths and a strong link/hint to Deus Ex 1.[/sp]
