Latest notice from game.co.uk is
Don't trust anything retailers say; wait for an official statement by Eidos Montreal and/or Square Enix.
Retailers know nothing, journalists know nothing. Don't believe anything you see about a release date until you see something official or trustworthy.

Site re-design for main company site http://eidosmontreal.com/ Stay classy Eidos Montreal.
If DX:HR is very successful I sure hope people don't start making gold+black style sci-fi movies/games left and right.
People are finding it hard to differentiate between black/gold and grey/brown these days.
Why the hell not? gold and black is an excellent color scheme
Gold + Black is awesome. Rembrandt, blade runner, nuff said.
People are finding it hard to differentiate between black/gold and grey/brown these days.
Blackangold is the new brownanbloom calling it now I have a terrible suspicion DXHR won't do very well though, because the console kiddies will try to play it like call of duty and fail.

I know it's old, but I got completely stuck during the first few moments of the game in the tutorial that frustrated me enough to not even bother with the rest of the game due to similar things that would probably happen through the main part of the game. Those two things that I got stuck on? At the shooting range, due to the crazy controls I accidentally threw my gun instead of aiming, and couldn't get into the range to pick it up. Had to restart the tutorial again... Then I got past that just fine, having figured out how to aim and got to a part where you stick bombs on a wall to blow up some mech. The bombs did not stick, even though I was in the proper instructed position and they fell to the floor, crippling my legs. I could no longer reach high enough to accomplish the task and had to start over again. This is the tutorial, it should be foolproof, I can't imagine facing so many issues like this while actually trying to play a game against opponents. Anyway, if I hadn't run into those problems so very early on, I might have enjoyed it, but my game list is very long, so many other games to play that don't piss me off so much in the first few minutes!
comment from kotaku:
holy fuck how can you even be that dumb
A guy called Daeda is posting his experience of playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Here's what he had to say to the following questions:
How are the augmentations divided amongst the four pillars that have been mentioned? Approximate number per pillar? * What are the augmentations that Adam starts out with? * Are there any consumables such as Thermoptic camo and Rebreathers? * Is Adam be able to find and use standard keys? * Is there any opening of lockers and crates or do you find all loot just laying there? * Does the level design feature frequent instances of conveniently placed waist-high walls? * How many different types of combat AI are there? * How many different states of alertness are there for AI guards? * Do guards still suffer from extreme forgetfulness? * Are vents still impenetrable sanctuaries for the sneaky player? * Are there any unskippable cutscenes? * Are PC players able to define their own hotkeys? * Is there locational damage for either Adam or the NPC's? Are there at least damage multipliers on body parts?

1) Id say most are stealth/action. Then also some trees for hacking and even less for social. Seemed like a right balance as you can imagine stealth and action being more important augmentations. There where a lot though and all of them had long upgrade trees so I think customisation will be more than most can ask for. 2) Out of the top of my head: single takedown, augmented reality (ie ammo counter etc), basic hacking and communications. Might've forgotten about one though. 3) Didn't see any, but then again, there was no water for you to need a rebreather. 4) No, all locks are done by keypads/hacking. You can actually enter passwords on PC though. 5) There are lockers, don' think there where any crates. 6) Most of those things feel in place, such as crates or desks. No walls unless there need to be walls. 7) Hard to tell, often they focus on the last place they saw the player and then investigate/attack if they find you. Some retreat a bit for safety. Don't have a final verdict on the AI, but its definitely better than the original (as you'd hope) 8) Id say: not alerted, alerted and suspicious. Might also be one for them going from alerted to not alerted. 9) Not extremely, but if you stay hidden long enough they will resume (albeit probably more suspicious) 10) Yes, I'd say so. 11) I think you could skip them, maybe not the cutscene after tutorial as it is a cut scene/credit roll thing. Didn't try since I was actually interested in the story. 12) Played on PS3, no idea. 13) For Adam, no idea. For enemies: you'll want to aim for the heads as ammo is scarce and they die much faster that way.
[editline]25th February 2011[/editline] And the controls, roughly (PS3):
Jump: X Reload: Circle Interact: Square Switch weapon: Triangle (Hold) Holster weapon: Triangle (Tap) Fire: R1 Aim Sight: L1 Cover: Hold L2 Use augmentations: D-Pad Inventory/Menu: Select Crouch: Click Left Analogue Stick
Translated to Xbox controls:
Jump: A Reload: B Interact: X Switch weapon: Y (Hold) Holster weapon: Y (Tap) Fire: RT Aim Sight: LT Cover: Hold LB Use augmentations: D-Pad Inventory/Menu: Back Crouch: Click Left Thumbstick
These controls should give an indication as to whether the PC's control scheme will be streamlined.
streamlined.
I hate this word
Seems like the switch weapon with holding down instead of tapping should be the other way around, but cool
comment from kotaku:
Wait how the fuck did he throw his gun? It's tab you don't use tab for shooting.
there are some websites that list episode 3 as being due to release 2009 I don't trust them
Its no problem for them to advertise it on the net since thats easily changeable. When you're actually putting it in the shop, you want it to be a definite date.
Wait how the fuck did he throw his gun? It's tab you don't use tab for shooting.
Probably middle mouse button. What an ass. Because of people like this developers make their games too easy these days. Imagine how he would react to the actual first mission.
comment from kotaku:
These are the kinds of kids that are the reason for games leading you by the hand like your a 5 year old trying to cross the street nowadays. Yes, Deus Ex is somewhat counter-intuitive by today's standards and I still get stuck from time to time, but this is just fucking pathetic.
If I hate a game I try to finish it nonetheless, even if that means to cheat. It's just the thing that I believe when you want to bash a game and rant about it, you must finish it first before making up a final opinion about it.
Which reminds me, I need to finish Mass Effect.
I think he was to dumb to change the controls which I do with almost every game I have. For example in ME1 the grenade button was on R, so I mpped it to G, problem Kotaku? He probably didn't even finish the game. If I hate a game I try to finish it nonetheless, even if that means to cheat. It's just the thing that I believe when you want to bash a game and rant about it, you must finish it first before making up a final opinion about it. That guy is an idiot, he better plays some generic shooter with custom kill streaks that gets released every year.
somebody on dehr forums psoted this. Well, after reformatting I'm going to continue gaming tradition of re-installing Deus Ex. [editline]25th February 2011[/editline]
somebody on dehr forums psoted this. Everything is just personal taste, I can only tell you that the [sp]spy drone comes in very handy with it's emp blast[/sp].

I never had to carry a GEP gun because of that thing.
