Hopefully it's a new trailer, and not a compilation of revamped old trailers.
yeah dude it's called hollow points. they fragment on impact causing loads more damage than a bullet going all the way through.
also i loved the part in the comic when the newscaster gets a massive facepunch lol :D
When do the bad guys every use hollow points.

To be honest, I don't know if I could take any more info. There's already so much to know about it that I just don't wanna spoil myself.

When they want to do massive damage to a single or small number of targets.
So is there a release date again or is square enix still being a bitch about it?
its out
What
But I sure do want to see some pc footage, conversations, and exploration gameplay.

Spring 2011, take away March, gives us April/May.

By the way, here's a preview of the game that contains some spoilers regarding the first proper mission you are given: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/02/24/deus-ex-human-revolution-preview/
Something about the cover system from the preview:

About takedowns:
Case in point, in one instant I was busy rummaging through a desk or something similarly uncool when a member of the group occupying the warehouse rounded a corner and spotted me from a distance of about three metres.
In the original Deus Ex, this meant JC Denton could look forward to a bout of circle strafing and baton smacks more at home in a police brutality video than a game about playing an ice-cool future superhuman. In Human Revolution, you can close the distance, press a button and loose a grin-spawningly cool bit of self defense at them, either knocking them out at the cost of bio energy if you tap the button, or ending their life with the blade hidden in your arm if you hold it down. Far from the cut to third person breaking immersion, the manoeuvre makes you feel more like Adam Jensen, because you never have to rub up against the glass wall of being unable to do something that fits within the narrative, and the need to get within spitting distance of an enemy makes the takedowns no more a “win” button than pulling the trigger on your gun is after you’ve put an enemy in your sights.
"I never-- MORE POWER THAN THE GOVERNMENT"
"She was-- ASKED FOR THIS"
They just need to cut some lines and place them elsewhere and they have a brand new trailer
Police have opened fire on Sarif Industries

The mind control augmentation reminds me so much of Ghost in the Shell, I like the idea of it. Is it confirmed the player can use it? I've only seen it in the directors cut trailer, never in a gameplay video. I need to know more about it.

Its purely a social aug I think. Like initially it will give you an indication of how they feel so you can make better choices, stronger when leveled then the last one forces them to tell you straight away what you want to know. At the cost of your relationship with that person and a ton of bio electricity.
To bad, it would have been great to slip inside another body wirelessly whilst your own body remains vulnerable wherever you just are. Then you start to go postal with the body of your victim and kill his unaware friends.

I would probably just use it to make people walk off cliffs and stuff.

Would've been awesome. GITS aside, Eidos could've made the core feature of Mindjack* "just another feature" in Deus Ex to show off.
It would have been completely evil, but I would have enjoyed the power to control somebody and make him slaughter all his comrades; the more emotional value to the scene and the more the victim is obviously struggling against the control the better.
*it's not the ur example, but one still in somewhat recent memory
Too much work required with a mechanic like that. It would be fun and powerful but impractical.

It could be modded in?

Even if there are tools, there is no saying it would be easy.

Nope, the enemies may not be augmented like you and there won't be special moves, think of it as spawing inside a special infected/tank in Left 4 Dead, first AI controlled, then by you. You may be able to fire at least pistols or rifles, enough to stir the shit up for you enemies. I would rather say it's overpowered, even if it lasts only 30 seconds and drains 100% energy.
You could control cameras and turrets before, proof that input of player controls and movement worked perfectly well in the old parts.
How about the amount of bioelectric energy drained per second is proportional to how powerful the enemy is? Also one bar of bioelectric energy is reduced to 0% instantly should the person you're controlling die, to discourage playstyles like
I would probably just use it to make people walk off cliffs and stuff.
and encourage players to use their minions tactically.
-snip-
Good idea but you could trick everyone into suicide as seen in the trailer and you would only need a second for that, so it's still overpowered.
How would that work?
How would that work?
Death by falling, forcing the enemy to pull a grenade without throwing it away, make him attack his friends so they kill him. It would only make sense that if you trick someone into it before giving back control over his body. Like in the trailer.

Well then, the biolectricity-draining effect could still persist if the enemy dies a certain time after death? Or perhaps permanently, so that if you want to control them you have to do a nonlethal takedown after?

Yes sure, you could make it so that disconnecting early short wires the battery as it isn't supposed to happen suddenly. No matter how much I appreciate it as ability of Adam Jenson, I want to see at least our enemies to use it against us.
I'm craving for more gameplay videos.
want to see at least our enemies to use it against us.
I have a feeling a boss battle will involve this somehow.
Like, say if Sarif was the bad guy all along (he probably is), when you confront him he takes control of your augs?

He probably is, but why? Adam says to Megan that he even sells to the DoD, would he betray his ideals to help people in order to stop his inventions being misused by the government? In what situation did he bring himself at first hand?
