Just remembered one of my favourite parts of Deus Ex; the text-only subplot involving Parkes, Todd & Young that lasts a good chunk of the game. Always thought that was a great little bonus for people who paid attention.

what do you think
JJB retweeted someone asking for a release date. Could be getting a date at the end of that countdown, it IS pretty close to April now.

In all the New York area up until you return to Hell's Kitchen for the last time, you can find datacubes from a trio of NSF commanders. They're ostensibly one step ahead of JC, and have their own little storyline running ahead of his. The story culminates on Smuggler's computer when you visit him for the last time.

Is it the ones you find where they're discussing how taking hostages might discredit the NSF's cause? I think I remember reading them, but I don't think I realised it was an on-running conversation.
I'm just about to go to Battery Park for the first time on my current playthrough, so I'll look out for it.

They're generally slightly more hidden than the standard datacube. There's about 7 or 8 I think. Just keep an eye out for the names, or something like 'ETodd', 'DParkes' or 'WYoung' on email lines. It'll make sense eventually.

As many as I could find -
Decker Parkes, Erin Todd & Wayne Young storyline locations:
- Castle Clinton kiosk
- Sewers under Hell's Kitchen warehouse
- LaGuardia boat house
- 18th Street Station
- Heliport computers
- LaGuardia barracks
- Terminal in the 747
- NSF HQ Offices
- NSF server room
- Smuggler's PC x2 (Second one finishes the storyline)
- MJ-12 Compromised Individual Datacube (Eventual fate of the trio)
Alright, I'm in the [sp]Versalife level two gray death thing[/sp] and I've just destroyed it. I need to get to a hole, but to get there I need to go through some electricity and irradiated as fuck water. I have no hazmat suit. What do I do?
Gonna take me a while to finish the book. Its so damn interesting but I've got Last Man Standing arriving tomorrow and I'm gonna be going through that all day :smith:

I never used a hazmat suit, I just ran with heal aug turned on.
I'd read Icarus Effect, but I just learned yesterday that a book I've been waiting for almost six years is coming out this summer and I'm so hyped for it I don't think I'll be able to read anything until then.
On a scale of one to ten how good is Icarus Effect? I've been looking for books to read.

Oh wow, a couple thousand more missing posts.

If you time your jump right you can get across it without touching the water I think. Once in there you need to do a little jumping puzzle to avoid dying.
I never played the original Deus Ex.
Watched Totalhalibut's video on it.
Jizzed in my pants.

Play it. It still holds up gameplay wise ;)
Ask JJB - Are there connections between DX:HR and the first Deus Ex?

Suddenly, JFD.
An article summarizing a guys playthrough. Good to see it in bullet point format so you're not wading through tons of lines just to find something out.
Oh and Warren Spector finally got his hands on it. Should be interesting to see his reaction.
I like how the deluxe edition includes a electronic lockpick, and a glorifyed lam

Optional booster pack. You can get all those items in-game the booster just gives you them straight up or at a certain point early on. The only thing in the pre-order thats really exclusive is the mission.

Side questing. Should note that the drug the guy is smuggling is used by augmented people to make sure their nerves stay in tact and work with their augs properly. Its basically like oiling a machine to make sure it works properly.
Chapter 6 - Major Book and Game Spoilers [sp]Wow, so the book basically confirms that the Tyrants are the ones who attacked Sarif. In fact, I left off after they were planning the attack, and they were talking about Adam as well. Really interesting stuff. This also confirms who the second person is who was alongside Barret, and that was Namir. This leads me to further think that Gunther will make an appearance sometime in the game.[/sp]
The book has gotten to a point where I don't want to stop reading. It has really sucked me in.
In an interview (I think it was either RPS or PC Gamer) they let slip that they had managed to track down some of the original voice actors from the game, so we can be sure there are at least 2 returning characters.

How is the book called and was it what JJB was reading in the video? I've only heard of the comics before.
No. It's called, 'Deus Ex: Icarus Effect'. It wasn't the book JJB was reading.

If you read the book, there are hints of possible returning characters from the first.
Deus Ex: Icarus Effect, if I remember correctly
Buying it tomorrow

So we have a release date for the release date
great
Hoping for early April or late March.
Hoping for early April or late March.
I'm gonna go and say mid-April to mid-June. Most likely late April. Late March would be way too early for any kind of advertising campaign to take place.
Its April or May. Their time frame is Spring 2011. Most likely April.
