You know what else sucks?
No limb damage system in Human Revolution.
That was one of my favourite parts of Deus Ex, losing your legs and having to crawl around looking for medkits while not getting detected.
Basically the most fun thing I did in DX1 was jump down the elevator shaft in Paris over and over and explode in bloody chunks.

PC version is a port, by a studio known for doing fairly crappy ports, all hope is lost.
I doubt anyone will notice that it's a port.

Bet you 10 bux it has a Press Start screen.

Considering how involved Eidos is with the port, and that the game director only plays the PC version, I haven't lost any hope at all. In fact, it's kind of reassuring.

"developed in house with a partner" means shit all to you doesn't it?

Do you take EVERYTHING I say seriously? :v: I mean isn't it obvious that sometimes I'm just overexaggerating?
[sp]Never do that about Oblivion or Bioware though.[/sp]

I don't understand why they even leave the press start screens in on the PC versions of games. They know that people who are into PC gaming hate them and it can't possibly be that difficult to bypass it.

A nobody, HumanAbyss gets mad at me every single time I post in a thread though.

I don't know why they're on any games. They're annoying on the consoles too.
Because if you leave it on it plays a neat little movie.
Because if you leave it on it plays a neat little movie.
That movie usually plays when the game first starts up, and half the time it's just an Attract Mode.

yeah, "mad"
i just say what I say, you say what you say, don't get your hopes up hoping to get under my skin

I'm not exactly ecstatic about you getting angry at me, I'd rather the opposite actually.
But let's not derail this thread.
[editline]23rd March 2011[/editline]
After playing that Kane and Lynch 2 port, and seeing how that Lara Croft game only had local coop, I'm wary of those guys handling the PC port of this console game.
Riutet you have nothing but negative comments on this game. It's obvious you don't like it, so why don't you just leave?

I do like the look of the game, I'm just disappointed with what I've been shown recently, for a short while they really redeemed themselves.

well, I'll spoiler it for you, you won't like the game, stop coming here if you have nothing to say but repeated bashings of said game.
You do this in many threads, i don't chase you around, but you're in almost all the threads for games i'm excited for. In each, you're doing nothing but telling everyone there how far astray the devs are from anything worthwhile.
well, I'll spoiler it for you, you won't like the game, stop coming here if you have nothing to say but repeated bashings of said game.
Well here's a spoiler to spoil your spoiler, ur rong.
So what, I'm not allowed to discuss the recent trailers/news because I happen to take a negative stance on them? What am I supposed to say about that port news, that I'm glad they're getting such a poor studio to do the PC port? The only good thing that could be said about that is that they said they're working close with them, presumably so they don't fuck up, but another guy already pointed this out.
This is a discussion forum right? Can't I say that the highlights look stupid? Or that the takedowns are unnecessary and over the top, and that them replacing melee weapons completely is an absurd dumbing down of the series? That's what discussion is for right? Discussing the game, both it's bad and good elements, but not necessarily both at the same time. Or this a worship forum? Am I supposed to worship this game and not speak ill of it lest I blaspheme.
I am a Deus Ex fan after all, should I not want the game series to be in the best shape it possibly can be? Am I wrong for being disappointed when they make frankly stupid design choices?

I most certainly do not, was I badmouthing Skyrim in the Skyrim thread? No, I was pointing out how Oblivion was a bad game and I hope Beth really improve upon it. Am I badmouthing The Witcher in the The Witcher thread? No, I'm posting news and talking about looking forward to it, pointing out what I don't like about what's been said too. Dead Island thread? Mostly criticisms, but still keep reiterating how I'm looking forward to the game and hope it comes out soon.
Main reason it seems like I'm criticising more than I'm praising? People start multiple page long arguments because they disagree with me.

How do you know you're going to like it? You've said you like the look of it, but other than that, it doesn't seems so great
And no, in the Skyrim thread, you're posting constantly about how oblivion is objectively a terrible game, that's not true.
I have no problem with complaints, I have a lot of complaints I make myself, but it's your attitude while complaining. It's the issue of you just twisting whatever you read or say to tell us the game will be a bad game. The fucking lead Dev is playing the game exclusively on PC, and yet, you don't think they're doing a good enough job? It's that kind of shit.
How do you know you're going to like it? You've said you like the look of it, but other than that, it doesn't seems so great
Because despite a bunch of big silly issues, looks like it still might be a gameworld worth experiencing and exploring, fact that it's a Deus Ex game helps. Just needs to excel in one area for me to like it despite it's flaws. I'd still rather it excelled in every area though.
And no, in the Skyrim thread, you're posting constantly about how oblivion is objectively a terrible game, that's not true.
Totally is man, Oblivion is only subjectively alright, objectively it's a steaming turd.
I have no problem with complaints, I have a lot of complaints I make myself, but it's your attitude while complaining. It's the issue of you just twisting whatever you read or say to tell us the game will be a bad game.
It's not really twisting when there's a hint of truth to it though is there? So I have said that HR might be a dumbed down largely linear shooter with token "alternative" routes, the footage I've seen of it, both the "tutorial" and the other sequences they've shown say I may be correct. They say "Oh those sections are just optional popamole, totally not how it is in the final game." I'll believe it when I see it, and when I do see it I'll have something more positive to say about the game.
The fucking lead Dev is playing the game exclusively on PC, and yet, you don't think they're doing a good enough job? It's that kind of shit.
"We told them the lead dev plays the game on PC. :v:"
I think the issue people are having with your posts Riutet is that when you say something is shit you neglect to add the words "in my opinion" and people are then taking offence to what seem like blanket statements they do not agree with.

Not always giving just my subjective opinion though. About half and half, discounting speculation.
Not always giving just my subjective opinion though.
there are no objective facts about fucking video games. That's the point. Every. Single. Perception. Of. It. Is. Fucking. Subjective.
Do you not get this? Your, and every other perception of a game is just subjective so your basically spouting horseshit.

Course there are objective facts sir.
Here's one, so Oblivion is an RPG right? Action-RPG more like but allow me to continue.
So stats are supposed to be relevant correct? I mean why wouldn't they be if they were in the game? But because of the exploitable/grinding/uninvolved combat system and the poor AI, they're irrelevant. This is what we call a failure of a game mechanic, it was a desire that these stats would have relevance, would matter, but they do not.
That's a failure, whether the result is enjoyable or not isn't in question, whether the system they have implemented works is what is in question, and it does not, and it is a huge part of the game. So that's a mark down. That's objective, that can't be denied. And then you do the same for every other feature in Oblivion. Then you compare it to previous games that have done similar things, but well, and decide on how the game fares objectively.
When it comes to whether the game itself is actually enjoyable, well that's a different matter, even mechanics that don't work can be enjoyable to the right type of person, so on that matter you can only really say whether or not you enjoyed yourself in whatever capacity you can think of when you really get down to it. I'm sure Oblivion is a good game to some people. I am not one of those people though. I'm sure people who are into scat probably wouldn't see eye to eye with me either, to each his own and I won't bother them unless we happen to be in a general discussion forum thread discussing the nature of the fetish, at which point I will state my qualms and try to argue my view.

You shit up every thread you go into. You piss everyone off in every thread you go into. Just leave, please I beg you sir.
I was so hyped and excited about Dead Island, then you came in and bummed me out, same with this thread.
I was so hyped and excited about Dead Island, then you came in and bummed me out, same with this thread.
I do not see why you are bummed out though, that is, if you are of the opinion that I am incorrect in my assertions about Dead Island and Deus Ex, then you should still remain hyped. If you are bummed out because you believe I may in fact be correct in my assertions, then why are you bummed out for having your knowledge of potential outcomes expanded?
