The next thread should be called Deus Ex Series General, seeing as that's what this thread turns into between news updates.

I would have expected a lot more hype for this title especially from pc gamers.
Any idea if these are PC screenshots? [editline]10th May 2011[/editline]
The next thread should be called Deus Ex Series General, seeing as that's what this thread turns into between news updates.
Agreed.
I don't think they are pc screenshots. We already had our pc week and look at the lack of AA in the last shot. Guys feel free to ask questions because there is a Q&A going on with a previewer on the dehr forums (see my previous post: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/985816-Deus-Ex-Human-Revolution-Megathread?p=29739221&viewfull=1#post29739221). I will copy your questions
City Hub Detroit is probably the size of Hong Kong in the original game and requires no loading for outside environments.
Wow. [editline]10th May 2011[/editline] No, I can't get over how incredible that is.
Wow. No, I can't get over how incredible that is.
Definitely, and look at the new detroit screenshot. I think I will stop many, many times to look at all the beautifull details and will explore every single corner of the map. The waiting is killing me. I have never been this excited for a game, EVER. Not even for half life 2, not even for starcraft 2! And knowing me that's saying A LOT about my excitement.
Wow.
Hong Kong is nothing amazingly large by today's standards, I would have been actually worried if there had been load times in an environment of that size.
Only real load times seem to be between hubs and other locations like the heng sha warehouse etc. Generally the same as DX.
Question for the guy on the Eidos forum: How do they prevent us from killing plot critical characters, like David Sarif for example. Do they force us to holster our weapons, is he simply invincible, or does all interaction with him happen in cutscene?
Question for the guy on the Eidos forum: How do they prevent us from killing plot critical characters, like David Sarif for example. Can't kill David at start because you have no weapons and you're being walked a linear path by Megan. They've said you can kill people once they out live their usefulness.
why do you always assume the absolute worst
It is a calling, one I must answer.
answer me this: if he was a fan of the original deus ex, how the hell would he even be a "consoletard popamole loving guy", as you put it?
Either: A: He liked Deus Ex for only a fraction of the reasons it was pretty kewl. B: He's just saying he liked it to earn coolcred points. :smug: Lying is so common in videogames journalism that I feel it makes more sense to assume that B is actually more likely than A. I'm not even being cynical like I wish I was. Personally I'm looking forward to Deus Ex: Human Revolution being the Best Most Flawless Game Ever™ until the sequel at which point it becomes the Worst Most Flawed Game Which This New Version Doesn't Really Do Anything About But We're Not Going To Say That™.

Would you really wear a shirt that had Exploration, Clutter, Stealth, Choices and I Never Asked For This on it?
Why is that M split off on its own? Also 0451 I just finished Icarus Effect and looked at the Hitman 5 teaser, it's :tinfoil: time

He couldn't be lying and to be honest he deserves credit because he answered many questions of fans on the forums, not somebody who calls him 'probably a consoletard'. This is the second time he does a Q&A. Here is more information
A. Let's say you are standing on a higher level, for example a roof. There is a ladder to go down. Will it be possible to just jump down without using the ladder? Or are there invisible walls? You can jump down, but you die pretty easily from the drop (Max 2.5 meters I think) So Id recommend using the Icarus Landing System in such cases. Items are hidden in plain sight, that is, between the clutter in the DXHR levels. In some cases, I wouldnt have spotted those had I not looked very closely and have highlighting turned on. That is to say, without they are practically invisible, with they are visible under specific angles. My PC has the current specs: Intel Core2Quad 9550 @2.83 GHz ATI Radeon 5850HD 6 Gb Ram It runs on max settings, although the resolution is capped at 1400x1050 due to monitor limitations. It seems to slow down a little bit, but I havent tweaked anything yet, as Ive been busy with writing the preview etc. And yes, I can comment on my insights into the game, thats the whole point of previews :). There are still quite some bugs that need to be fixed, but with 4 months left that shouldnt be an issue. For previews, I think its common courtesy to not mention bugs too much, as thats just part of the last phase of development. Its a good Deus Ex game, although there will no doubt be debate on whether it lives up to the original or not. Im still convinced that this game will get at least a 9 in average reviews, especially when viewed as a stand alone game. Its gonna be a great experience and I think EM is doing a lot of things right, even though it might be controversial. That said, Im interested to hear what other sites are gonna say tomorrow, since this is just the opinion of an overly enthousiast DX fanboy ;)
That shirt looks tacky. Only video game shirt I'd ever wear would be some of the TF2 ones, because they are actually pretty awesome designs that stand on their own:
I own this one.
"In some cases, I wouldnt have spotted those had I not looked very closely and have highlighting turned on." This best not mean what I think it means.
Sounds to me like if you turn it off you're going to actually have to look for stuff properly.
Don't forget it's a very detailed world full of clutter and objects you can't interact with. I think it might be really hard to distinguish a small ammo clip for example from other stuff.

Also, they still have those little pop up icons when you look at useable things which hopefully should help.
I have a few AI related questions that I've been wondering about for a while... 1. If you incapacitate an enemy by non-lethal means what happens to them? Do they eventually get up of their own accord? (if so, how long does it take?) Do they only get up if discovered by another guard? Or are they, for all intents and purposes, dead? If they do get up again, which level of alert are they in? 2. If you take out a guard, will their allies notice that they're missing and search for the body/call for a replacement? If they do notice, does this put them in an alerted state? 3. If a guard discovers you, are the other guards in the area immediately alerted? or do you have a chance to stop them before they can call for backup? 4. How (if at all) do guards react to changes on their patrol route? eg. if you were to block off a path they usually take with boxes what would they do? 5. Do you get more experience for going through an area taking out all the guards with non-lethal take downs, or for making it through without interacting with them at all?
1) They stay down until woken up by an ally 2) Guards wont notice anyone gone. 3) If a guard spots you, hell shout it out, making other guards in the area aware of your presence and become hostile. Not sure what the exact range for this is, but needless to say, only guards hearing shouting/shooting will engage in an attack. If an alarm sounds, all guards in the level will be alerted, only returning to normal after you've turned out the alarm and waited for them to relax. 4) No idea, I assume they'd just walk past the box. 5) Good, Ill give an example in experience, for you to calculate If you take someone down, you'll always get 10XP. If you make an headshot, you'll get an additional 10. If you do a takedown, you'll get an additional 20. If you'll take someone out without killing him, you'll get an additional 20. So for a non-lethal takedown, you get 50 XP. Now, for completing an objective without being noticed (takedowns executed from the back of an enemy dont count as being noticed) you get 500 XP. To earn a Praxis point, you need about 3000 XP, though I think it increases over time. If someone gets woken up, you can get the XP again, so you can earn extra XP this way, but since waking up requires the enemies to become suspicious and doesnt earn that much XP on a Praxis point, I highly doubt it will be worth the time and effort. Also, one you might want to know but didnt ask: Camera's will detect dead bodies http://forums.eidosgames.com/showpost.php?p=1610609&postcount=55
Confirmation doors can be blown up. Good news.
I was going to buy this off steam but since it uses steamworks I can just use the money I have lying around instead. I've seriously altered the way I buy games thanks to steam. Now the first question I have when getting a game is "will it go to steam" :tinfoil:
Confirmation doors can be blown up. Good news.
Time to get revenge on all the doors that we couldn't open in other fps games.
I'm worried about this game, it looks awesome but I'm not sure I want to blindly prepurchase it, for the fear of getting Brinked. As much as I love deus ex I think I'll wait for some reviews.

This reminds me of MGS alot, but in a more badass way.
