Still though, in DX1 the buildings just looked like the buildings of today with a few high tech bits, in this new game they look like it's the far future. I know there was a collapse but did all the buildings and technology just vanish into thin air? Looks to me like the artists for this game seem to be ignoring the setting for the original altogether. Don't get me wrong the game looks amazing, but why did they have to slap prequel on the title, a sequel would have been more fitting. I wouldn't even know it was a prequel if i hadn't been told.
also on the mechs, in dx1 they are horribly disfigured with wires and shit in this they look more advanced then JC fucking Denton.
Fuck i'm nitpicking.
I'd say that you need to ignore your nerdier side for this.
I understand what you're saying, but the design is fucking godly. So I don't care. At all.
Ok so I never played Deus Ex when it came out so I tried a few months ago and I must have done it wrong or something because I was terrible at the very first part. I never went back to it since.
Exactly. Everyone is horrible at the first part. Once you beat it it gets much easier, trust me.

If you can make it to Hong Kong you'll love the rest of the game. Its a tough game to get into due to the first level.
I think the futuristic part in Deus Ex was improved nano-augmentation. Deus Ex 3 is fine then since it goes back to mechanical augmentations.

People just don't like DX:HR having more futuristic looking environments since DX was based mostly in real-world locations. Unless we re-visit those areas in DX:HR I don't see the problem. Its not like every city instantly HAS to have all this top of the line technology just because the ones we've seen have them.
You're going to dark places in DX:HR but its not like DX where you're in the shit with the homeless etc.

Wow that's great because I played it for free on Gametap and it's not free there any more. DAMN

Yeah, I kind of wish you could see, like, for example, NYC before the collapse, just how much of a shithole it was before it became even worse. :v:

Anyway, what's your opinion on how the Collector's Edition will be? I think there's going to be the game itself, the soundtrack, the artbook, probably the how-they-did-it DVD and I hope it's going to be a replica of some item instead of an in-game shit.

Hoping for a box-bot figure. I'd be happy with just the soundtrack, enjoyed every single song I've heard so far. The making-of DVD is kinda confirmed.

Box-bot? You mean the one that gets thrown into the building from a helicopter in the gameplay videos?

I have a feeling that was itentional.
Since they are aiming for stealth in DX:HR
I pre-ordered this about half a year back. I can't wait!

In-game replica item better be those shades.
In-game replica item better be those shades.
Hell yeah, I'd change my pre-order to Collectors Edition for that.
I want a trenchcoat in the collector's edition.

One of the augmentations should be "Grow an even bigger beard"
Advanced future technology
It's not the beard on the outside matters, it's the beard on the inside that matters
retractable sunglasses are both hilariously retarded and impossibly cool.
i want a pair :(

Since they said they said that johnny mnemonic was amongst the things they looked to for inspiration when making this, I wonder if adam's "glasses" are based off of the mirrored lenses that molly had.

Comes with a special robot which installs them in your skull.
I've never played the first Deus Ex. Will I be able to play this and still know what's going on?

Yes, but still, you should play it.

Get medkit, go onto health screen and click on the heal button near the legs.

Yeah. Either that or some kind of geometrical construct from the game.
Oh wow I did not know that happened.
I'm getting this for the gameplay, not the story canon.
I'm getting this for the gameplay, not the story canon.
Barely any canon in this anyway. Hints here and there but nothing substantial. Which I'm glad about because trying to link shit together properly would make things messy.
