Stop bitching about the graphics. It looks fun to play, actually.
I've actually been waiting for this mod, it looks fun.
This looks like a very nice mod, looking forward to playing it.
That minigun looks like the one in Jailbreak: Source.
supertoaster: I googled and took one ;p I don't play TF2
So which engine is it on, ep1 or ep2? I remember seeing ep1 fire effects in early screenshots but now I see ep2 blood effects.
We started on epi1 and earlier this year we converted to Orange Box
UT04>UT3 Exactly
Not true, UT04 looks way better.
@people bitching about graphics; Because every thing is final product during beta, right? Mod looks fun.
You guys are jerks, I'm a playtester and this is a quality mod, I even prefer this over NeoTokyo because this WORKS and it's BALANCED and alot of fun to play.
its not like its remotely hard to beat neotokyo in the fun department.
Guys, don't judge the mod at this first glance, take the time to play it and then state your opinions. Be happy that these guys are actually making a mod for users to play, and I'm sure that they do not appreciate negative comments about everything when it's not even released yet. What are you gonna bring up next, the air looks dull? Come on..
This looks really fun. I like how well the props are placed, and that's just beta screenshots. Also,

DAT GUN
L4D should look like Ep2?
It does. OHH did you say Dice???? :aaaaa: /Sarcasm
About the whole thing being blocky and looking like hl1? Let's have a look at a valve game they recently released (which has a huge team and lots of funding, and isn't free): Look at that nice prop placement and well detailed walls/room, my god, what was I thinking making this room:
I was just going to lurk until I saw this. Those are two completely different art styles. Comparing those two to each other is a lot like comparing the taste of bananas to the taste of a lemon. Just because they're both yellow and fruit doesn't mean the comparison makes any fucking sense. Compare HL2 if you're going to compare a Source game, at least the art styles aren't completely and totally different. Edit: Okay, yes, they are different, but not as different as TF2 compared to a more realistic style.
Everyone in this thread complaining about graphics is fucking blind, end of.
Is this a tactical shooter, arcadey, or "realism"?
Everyone in this thread complaining about graphics is fucking blind, end of.
People complaiing about graphics are blind, good argument :downs:. The mapping looks excellent, the details placed around and such, the lighting looks great, and the planning is good. But it's the textures that are getting me, I know it's a Beta still, but showing a map with what looks like low resolution textures doesn't really leave that great a impression on me. Though the gameplay looks like it could be pretty good judging by the videos on the site.
These screenshots were taking during a random playtest, and I compressed them kinda badly in a rush to post them and release some of them. So I took the liberty of taking some non-compressed straight out of the game screenshots of the level in question. Screenshots don't do it justice anyway, the game play is a lot of fun, we have a well balanced game and we have some unique features that should make Off Limits different from other games / mods. I was planning an HD game play video for my next "media release", when I have it I'll be sure to post it here as well. Here's the non-compressed shots I just took: http://www.wesleytack.com/upload/ol_russia0011.jpg http://www.wesleytack.com/upload/ol_russia0012.jpg http://www.wesleytack.com/upload/ol_russia0015.jpg http://www.wesleytack.com/upload/ol_russia0016.jpg http://www.wesleytack.com/upload/ol_russia0018.jpg http://www.wesleytack.com/upload/ol_russia0019.jpg http://www.wesleytack.com/upload/ol_russia0020.jpg http://www.wesleytack.com/upload/ol_russia0021.jpg These are just some areas in the level, there's about 50% more where these came from, so to make a level this big work, you need to balance performance, texture memory, draw calls, etc etc About the corridors being blocky, we are a fast paced mod where I don't want the player to get stuck on a lot of detail, so I agree some corridors/area's maybe look blocky but that's done by design, not because I don't like more detail. I'm more frustrated by getting stuck on an 8 unit corner then having a less detailed final look. That's why there aren't many physical objects in the level as well (there are but they are small and have no player collision, all in the name of a smooth and fast game play).
I think it looks good. excellent UI.
The maps look cool.

I think it looks really good, been following you on moddb for a while. Although you know someone is still going to say it looks like HL1.
I thought I recognized that map. I was thinking ND renamed themselves or something. But this does look fun to play. I just hope it doesn't go the way of most MP mods when it's released.
Nevermind, shit looks great.
Cause graphics make the game :downs:
I hate it when people say that as if you're not allowed to critique graphics.
I don't know what you guys are talking about. I thought that the graphics looked fine, even in the OP. Maybe I'm still stuck in 2004.
I still preferred the mod's earlier idea about fighting an alien :/
AA would do wonders for SS :buddy:
AA would do wonders for SS :buddy:
Everything in those shots is set to max., AA at 8 (if you still think there is AA, then it's Source ;) )
Everything in those shots is set to max., AA at 8 (if you still think there is AA, then it's Source ;) )
Source's max AA is 16X
Source's max AA is 16X
Don't you mean the Filtering mode? I only have 8 max on AA:
All source games I run are on 16X CSAA and 16XQ CSAA [editline]12:21PM[/editline] I like some of the designs on the maps, but they are just too cluttered.
