That's bullshit, even if you are just screwing aroudn in the worst game ever, you usually get spectators within a few minutes, that alone proves that there are loads of people using it.

I would never use this (not that I can). Losing your game after 3 years? I'm sorry I thought I bought the game, I didn't realise I was renting it.You can't add mods or edit any configs. Also lag on singleplayer would drive me loopy, and before you say it, input lag is the worst kind of lag.
Fuck another thread about this shit? Yes, we know OnLive exist, and have three bottles of wine saved for the day it crashes and burns.
:unsmith:
onlive got pretty desperate with their offers, first its a monthly fee, then they drop it, then the beta with the free games, then pre-order duke nukem or homefront and get the home console for free.
You get the console for free with pretty much anything. On an unrelated note, why the hell are you not in the german discussion thread :colbert:
While OnLive itself is far from perfect. This form of gaming could become the way we play games in the future as our internet becomes faster and faster. Hell, they don't even require a monthly fee anymore. If anything, that is cheaper than having to buy a new computer every few years in order to keep up with development since they will just upgrade their servers. Unlikely but could happen. Then you will also lose the games you bought. People need to stop being so cynical if you ask me. OnLive is ahead of it's time right now. That's it. Editing mods and whatnot is bad of course but in the future there can be all sorts of creative solutions to that.
Woah nice graphics:
Cloud gaming/computing is unrealistic because there are so many problems with the concept, like how someone could screw over everyone by jamming a signal or something.
If it is that easy then why have nobody taken down the entire worlds Internet yet?
Well, that's actually pretty easy to do. But if someone did that, at lease we can still use non-internet-based programs. With cloud computing, you wouldn't be able to use even Word.

If OnLive fails you lose eveything. People need to be more cynical, blindly overlooking major flaws because they might get fixed sometime in the future isn't helping anyone.

OnLive may be bad but it is showing what is possible and with future refinements there can be more reliable services in the future that may become more popular.
I actually like Onlive's service. If you don't have cable or better though, you're pretty much screwed. The lag isn't a killer for games like Amnesia, Batman Arkham Asylum, or Assassin's Creed, strangely, it's a killer for 2d games like World of Goo, or Evil Genius, mainly because cursor lag is very apparent. Onlive serves as a really good system to try demos as well. Nearly 90% of games have a 30 minute free trial, meaning you can play the first 30 minutes of a game. There's no downloading so you can try carelessly with any game, without having to be bothered by downloading or system requirements. I'm not going to replace playing my games on my gaming computer, but it has given my friends the opportunity to try out indie games they couldn't necessarily run. For instance, I have gotten two of my friends that have really shitty laptops and computers to get Amnesia while it was free for one day, and they've still been playing it since. Without Onlive it wouldn't have happened. For any of the skeptics out there, please try OnLive. All it requires is a registration. Afterwards, try some of the 30 minute trials. 100kb/s internet. No chance, bucko.
100kb/s internet. No chance, bucko.
So basically you're bias because you have a shitty internet?
Only thing I like about this is watching other people play :v:
So I have a 700 KB/s internet, that should be fine. Right? Nope. So lets take DiRT 2. I know how to play racing games and I have played DiRT 2 alot before and I am rather good at it. Suddenly I am crashing into walls and other cars because I thought they were just shadows because the graphic quality is so LOW. How about Splinter Cell: Conviction? I bought the game and finished it and it was good. I replayed the 1st and 2nd mission in the game about a week ago and I was good at it. The first mission was fine even though the graphic quality looked worse than all-low on that game yet on the second I died about 4 times due to the input delay and enemies looking like shadows. Seems like a waste of cash for me.
I bought my girlfriend a home console and it came with 60 dollars credit, it is some awesome shit. I have used the PC client since beta and it is some amazing technology that will only improve with time. I find it hard to ignore the fact that this type of technology will ultimately become a dominate force in console video games. Also as for graphic quality it is directly related to your internet speed, the worse your speed and connection to the service the more the quality degrades. I am able to play multiple games just fine at what would be considered high if not a tad grainy quality.
Onlive is pretty amazing. I have used it alot. Only thing that makes me rage is the spectators. Especially the girly ones who are 9 who CRITICIZE you for every move you make. [editline]28th May 2011[/editline] If L.A. Noire ever has a PC port. I hope it comes on Onlive aswell. Right now im sticking with the console version.
