while we're comparing fallout 3 and nv, are there any mods that change the atmosphere from "OH GOD MY EYES ARE ON FIRE" orange back to "perpetually underwater" green? or a mod that changes ironsights back to the not-ironsights like they were in f3?
Well I just remove the dumb atmospheric color using Fellout and everything looks better. The green and orange take away from the scenery.
I kept the BB gun with me the whole game, I delivered the final kill shot to that enclave guy at the end of the game with it, I was like :c00l:
you are awesome
So I've been working on a new character for some time, and decided to finally post him here for no reason whatsoever. With a layout consisting of Chance's Knife, a Silenced .45 Pistol, a trusty .45 Thompson, an Automatic Rifle, and This Machine, Joe Spencer is a pretty cool WWII remnant. He gets into knife-fights with Deathclaws and doesn't afraid of anything.
I liked Fallout 3's world so much better than New Vegas', there was a balance between wasteland and urban environments to make it interesting no matter where you were... I'll never forget fighting my way to GNR through the subways and bombed out buildings, which was ten times more challenging considering Lyon's squad didn't spawn for some reason, and the behemoth battle was fun as shit because I didn't know the fat man was there.
I didn't like FO3 because the entire game was walking through the same bombed out buildings, annoying subways and fighting super mutants over and over again. I miss having a main town though.
Well I just remove the dumb atmospheric color using Fellout and everything looks better. The green and orange take away from the scenery.
I thought the green added to f3 but the orange in nv is just annoying as fuck
Go play Fallout 3 then?
I still haven't finished all playthroughs of nv and want the rest of it to be as enjoyable as possible I don't want to use fellout because, yes it does take away the horrible orange color, but it replaces it with an even worse neon blue tint
I'm thinking about buying the original Fallout game but I'm wondering if it's worth paying for? And what would someone who's only played Fallout 3 need to know about it?
it's much, much, much slower and can be improved greatly by mods like resolution fixes and HD textures and shit but no matter what you do, if you ever decide to go to NMA, do NOT mention fallout 3 [editline]24th May 2011[/editline] fallout 3 to NMA is like cs:s to ESEA

NMA is No Mutants Allowed, the oldest website dedicated to Fallout, and the Fallout 3 hate there is over hyped, it was only like that when F3 came out, now no one talks about it or cares. [editline]24th May 2011[/editline] also just noticed that a new version of the Fallout 2 High Res Patch is out. http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=58635
Well I guess I'll buy it from GOG since it's a few bucks cheaper and I'm downloading a mod called Fallout FIXT which includes bug fixes and better resolution. Well actually it looks like I'm getting it from Steam since GOG doesn't accept American Express
Fellout is only good if you like to use weather mods to make it cloudy all of the time. Other than that, it looks like mat_fullbright 1.
I want you guys to critique my character build so far, I'm slightly self concious about him. Sam Wesson S - 5 P- 6 E - 5 C - 7 I - 7 A - 6 L - 5 Tagged Skils : Guns, Speech, repair The idea behind him is he's a sweet talking cowboy, a gunfighter with a silver tongue. He's my first "proper" character (I had another but he was badly specced) How's this guy rank up?

That's gonna bite me in the ass ain't it? [editline]25th May 2011[/editline]
i always use the same tag skills, never have any problems
Guns and repair seem like good skills to tag on a first playthrough. I'll try an unarmed/melee one next.
wow did you actually think I was serious when I said that
I don't even know anymore :v: [editline]25th May 2011[/editline] Also, I need help. Slightly spoliery but I feel this game has been out long enough: Is there a way I can kill Benny discretely in the Tops casino when I catch up with him? I'm playing a dude, and I'd rather not deal with the Legion.

They also had New Vegas for $20 even though it's still $50 on Steam which is pretty silly.
Bought this recently at futureshop. bestbuy or whatever there is in America might have it. Best part about it is you dont have to play fallout tactics
Since I managed to lose my copy of Fallout 2 and never owned Tactics I bought this a while ago. It was by White Label, one of those damned old game repackage in mostly white box with a tiny picture of the game cover in the middle and no manual companies. I didn't enjoy Tactics and when I went to reinstall the earlier games the installer data was corrupt. For both of them. Unplayable, unrecoverable.
I honestly liked Fallout Tactics for the fact that it tried to have you command a whole group rather than a individual. The story itself was faulted just because of numerous amounts of plot holes but I like the fact that it was trying a new area and doing something different.
You know what I find annoying about new vegas addons? How poorly they differentiate 'new' weapons and armor. Fucking painfully obvious how recycled the sounds and model is for the M1911. At 100 guns, it also feels completely worthless. Same for the police revolver and the BAR with assault carbine sounds. I always feel the stuff I'm carrying on me is a million times better than what they have in the expansions. I mean, aren't the purpose of the expansions supposed to expand the world and items you use? I usually drop them, or put them in permanent storage, never using them again. Also, for the few caves I've visited in Honest Hearts, I can say that these guys have a knack for making some truly useless areas. Yao Guai cave for example ; 4 Yao Guai cubs and NOTHING ELSE. No items, no neat little bits of information, nothing. Why would something like that need to exist if it adds absolutely nothing to the experience? I could be wrong, and it could have a larger role in the plot, but this is a common trend I've found in NV: Exploring some fucking area and it being a waste of time as there were only two creatures and a box of junk.
I agree on this point, I wish the exploration was as interesting as in fallout 3, I really enjoyed visiting everything over and over again in fallout 3, in new vegas, the exploration and combat is much less interesting because there's no interesting places to go, and they removed the random encounters / random events, which was a big minus, in my opinion. In fallout 3, I almsot never used quick travels, in new vegas, I use a mod that puts much more monsters and faction patrols to have more combat on my travels, but there's only 3-4 places that I go: Around Vault 3 (south vegas, with all the raiders) Legion encampment (the place where there's 2 hostage power ganger) Around the NCR pirson facility (powder ganger all around) And the blue vacation spot (filled with lakelurk) The rest is emptied, boring, uninteresting, or the respawn time is too long (Quarry junction, and even then deathclaws get boring after a while, you either have to kill them from afar, or it's tough luck if they're close, stimpacks mass genocide time). I have honestly no idea why they removed random encounter and random events, it was there since the very first fallout, and was one of the many key points of what made fallout, fallout.
