Alright, what I'm trying to say is this: How do I walk into one encampment or another without having to slaughter everyone in self defense. This happens the same way no matter what faction's camp I decide to walk in, no matter if I'm wearing the right uniform. They all hate me, they all shoot at me. From the beginning I thought Gunderson said something about getting a translator, but Waking Cloud or whatever seems to speak English fine, as she screams it at me when we fight. Here is where I am, plot wise: Something bad happened to the caravan was with, and I ended up killing Follows-Chalk or whatever. That's it. My only other encounters with either white legs or dead horses end in me killing them, or the other way around. How do I progress, is what I'm asking, because right now, I'm racking up a body count to rival you-know-who.
Quite a predicament. Do you have the quest "Chaos in Zion" or something along those lines? If so, you have to retrieve the map and then leave Zion because of killing Follows-Chalk.
Holy shit I cant find a hunting shotgun anywhere. Its my favorite weapon but none of the shops/army bases/ranger stations have a shotgun. Only cowboy repeaters and single shotguns.

Fiends are around Camp McCarran, if you don't know where that is look around outside freeside. Don't think they start spawning till level 10, but I could be wrong.

Find Trash's shed. Something tells me I found dinner bell as well, but gave it to some random companion. try the gun runners or mick and ralph's as well.
Anyone know any notable weapons in the beginning of the game?
Anyone know any notable weapons in the beginning of the game?
That Gun in Novac, and the Q-35 Matter Modulator in the REPCONN HQ.
Just made it up to Black mountain and looted all possible containers and then the game suddenly crashed for no reason. Gamebryo you piece of shit.
I miss the good ol' days of F3 where there weren't 50 different kinds of shotgun, 20 different kinds of assault rifle ammunition and there was a tactical difference from gun to gun :allears:

oh thank god we're on page 92 now now I don't have to see that freakshow fanart of a frumentarii thing hey wait page 92 :v:
Too bad the speech system, aiming, subway spam, and repairing system all sucked.
Yeah, speech was almost entirely useless in Fallout 3, I'm glad Obsidian actually made it a skill worth taking in NV. I did like Fallout 3's world though. Both FO3 and NV were great games, especially with DLC.
Just made it up to Black mountain and looted all possible containers and then the game suddenly crashed for no reason. Gamebryo you piece of shit.
My game is solid every time I'm not at Black Mountain. Something about that place is fucked up. It's a rare crash, but they happen only whenever I'm up there, no clue what the deal is.
Too bad the speech system, aiming, subway spam, and repairing system all sucked.
the speech system could be remedied with quicksaving, I preferred the working "slightly closer to your head" aiming system over the completely broken "half-assed ironsights" aiming system, the subways were fucking awesome what are you talking about why does NV not have subways or overpasses or anything cool like that, and the repairing system wasn't all that bad, just slightly more annoying than this one

The only speech check I remember actually being useful in FO3 was with President Eden, nothing else mattered at all. Also, you can turn ironsights off if they bother you in NV in options, which makes them act the same as they did in fallout 3. It's not broken in NV at all in my experience, so maybe you have bad luck. Vice versa, you can get a mod for ironsights in FO3.
That ghoul mask in FO3 is hella useful. At least when going through subways and shit.

Usually for most people the same old thing gets old real fast.
It's only human to have a need for diversity. Usually for most people the same old thing gets old real fast.
Not to mention NV had plenty of weapon types FO3 didn't - Pump action shotties, grenade launchers, etc.
I miss the good ol' days of F3 where there weren't 50 different kinds of shotgun, 20 different kinds of assault rifle ammunition and there was a tactical difference from gun to gun :allears:
There's 2 types of assault rifle ammunition. There's 3 types of rifle ammunition. There's 4 types of pistol ammunition, There's 2 types of intermediate ammunition (.22lr and 12.7mm), and theres 2 types of Shotgun shells. Its really not hard at all to learn. I felt at home in New Vegas with the awesome variety of cartridges and shot types, far better than Fallout 3 with its 6 types of ammo and lack of bullet options. [editline]29th May 2011[/editline]

OBSIDIAN DON't GIVE US MORE CONTENT, PLEASE NO

Agree 100x, I hate it when I play some sequel or branch-off and they just completely rid it of complexity or diversity from the series, because having choices scares people.
the subways were fucking awesome what are you talking about why does NV not have subways or overpasses or anything cool like that
The subways were infuriating if you were trying to use the pip-boy map as a guide. Actually, no, the subways were just straight up infuriating.
Im neutral on the subject of subways. Bethesda mentioned DC used to be like twice or three times the size, but they toned it down; this disappointed me. Even though it would have been marginally repetitive, I think more = better when it comes to exploration. Don't need to explore it if you don't want to (assuming nothing all that improtant was put out there) I sort of liked how confusing the subways were. I always got this little moment of enjoyment when I had to walk up the subway stairs and actually look at the Subway map and learn the names of the stations, and see where I could go to. As usual, though, it would have been a lot cooler if people (non-hostile) ones lived in the subways. Too many enemies in Fallout 3 and not enough people to talk to, trade with, or do quests for.

OBSIDIAN DON't GIVE US MORE CONTENT, PLEASE NO

I'd rather have one assault rifle than 200 that all have such slight differences to them they're basically all the same and I'd rather not carry around 10 different kinds of ammo for one type of weapon
I'd rather have one assault rifle than 200 that all have such slight differences to them they're basically all the same
Theres 3 "assault rifles." though they are all carbines. Two of them use the same ammo as each other and one used a different one.
and I'd rather not carry around 10 different kinds of ammo for one type of weapon
Dont carry around 10 types of ammo then. You only need one. If you want you can carry around the other bullet types for specialized combat styles. You exaggerations are so ridiculously absurd, they take away any legitimacy from your point. As I see it, the new bullet types and extra cartridges are just extra content for those who want to use it, the game never forces you to carry a huge variety.
I hope the next Fallout game gives more consequences of killing random people rather than "hurr karma". One reason is because its pretty useless to spend caps on something you can get for free by killing the merchant. This may be good but it gives that wrong feeling to it. Oh, and the new Engine. He's just nitpicking on things that you can either disable or just not use. Not really constructive. Don't get me wrong, I respect everyone's opinion but complaining about something for incredibly tiny reasons and (Seemingly) hating something due to them doesn't make sense to me.
I hope the next Fallout game gives more consequences of killing random people rather than "hurr karma". One reason is because its pretty useless to spend caps on something you can get for free by killing the merchant
Karma was so useless in both gamebyro fallout games, I mean the only thing they had an impact on was for unlocking some perks, and even then it was only like three total and they were shitty perks anyway. It shouldn't have been in if it serves virtually no purpose, not to mention that BOOOO WAAAAAAH noise everytime I steal something gets immensely annoying. Hurray for mods.
Bethesda should just let Obsidian handle Fallout.
Bethesda should just let Obsidian handle Fallout.
Bethesda should make the world. Obsidian should do everything else.
No.
No.
Why not? I think the overworld for NV sucks hard compared to F3, there are no really interesting and expansive or scattered but similar places like the subways and downtown DC and overpasses. It's just a mostly flat, orange, empty desert. On that same note I think Bethesda is also much better at giving minor characters personalities, you'll notice that most of the named-but-nobody-gives-a-fuck-about-them characters in the casinos in NV have no real personality or voice or role besides "talk to to complete quest 942", the little guys in F3 had a lot more life to them: that asshole doctor in Megaton, all the caravan owners, Mel, even some of the raiders have extensive back-story to them. inb4 I'm a bethesda fanboy for not worshiping obsidian
Bethesda should make the world. Obsidian should do everything else.
That would be very acceptable. Bethesda could craft the world, but Obsidian should do the story, monster placement, and they should make all the human NPCs and dialouge. I'd be happier if Obsidian just made the entire game, but they probably don't have the manpower to do that, Bethesda does. [editline]29th May 2011[/editline]
Why not? There's already a TES series and Fallout doesn't really need to be part of it. Bethesda makes TES and has always made TES. When they are given a first person open world game to make, they'd make it like TES whether they intend to or not just because that's what the developers are used to. If you gave Bioware the Fallout franchise it'd likely end up like Mass Effect, it just happens. If fallout is to be true fallout then Obsidian should write it and have their hands in the much of the development.
