Is Dead Money worth buying?
Is Dead Money worth buying?
In my opinion, no.
Everything looks the same, basically just fetch-quests, annoyingly hard to kill enemies, etc.
But the dialogue is pretty nice.
Gives you an in site into Lonesome road I mean a BIIIIIG in site

Some quests are just too hard and annoying.
Especially if you just made a new character and headed right to the DLC.

I think it is. Takes a few playthroughs to get the whole experience, though

To be honest though, the whole DLC thing in new vegas was sort of poorly planned. By the time you get through dead money, you will probably be up 5-6 levels. Unless the next dlcs are going to set the maximum cap to 40 or 50 (aka demi-god mode) then I think most of us will be starting new characters for every DLC. I really hope on of the DLCs will let you play after the dam battle, that'd make this whole thing a lot less convoluted.

Someone should just make a mod for this now. :v:

That's probably why it said "recommended for couriers of level 20+" you should probably heed the warnings.

No, it's really stupid. With my "harsher wasteland" mod you start at about 1/3 of the base health your normally would, so over-leveling isn't a huge deal since your health is at par with most enemies, but by default if you were to reach level 50 you'd have some inhuman amount of health (400-500 hit points) you could basically stand in front of an enemy firing squad for a good 20 seconds before you die. Fallout 2 had no level cap (in essence) but basically at about level 30 or so you just start to run out of things to kill and quests to do so it all balances out.
If they are going to set the level cap beyond level 40, I think they'll need to change the way you level. Perhaps no more health gain, and they just give you a better set of "final" perks. At level 50 basically all your skills will be at 100.
You know what I love about New Vegas audio? The rata tat tat of gun fire in the distance every once in a while. Just makes me think of an epic battle raging on between the Brotherhood of Steel and some Super Mutants. The gun fire of their battle echoes throughout the terrain until it reaches my ears.
Anyone know how the NCR radio works? I walked got it from someone in the NCR and then used it later for NCR Supply Support.
That same guy that gave me the radio comes running from out of nowhere and it just says exactly what he said when he gave me the radio the first time. Unless he gave me another...
The next patch needs to make the popups that tell you "THIS DLC IS HARD BE FUCKING LEVEL 20 OR DIE" and "THIS GAME FUCKING ENDS SHITHEAD" harder to close so the idiots read them.
not that anyone here is an idiot or anything.
Why would you even buy any gamebryo engine game on a console?
Maybe he can't run it well on his PC?
He just does that. You can use the radio again after getting the supplies. If you open up your quests tab, there'll be a quest marker for where the supply drop is and it looks like a metal locker.

There won't be, Obsidian and Bethesda have said there won't be a Broken Steel style DLC many times.

Oh, okay, I got it now. Thanks.

Thats a bit taken out of context.
Either way, thats a really bad design plan. Lets face it, most of these dlcs are going to require you to be level 20+, so how does this all work? 4 DLCs, all require you to be over level 20, but you advance like 5-6 times every DLC? I just don't see how they are going to pull it off without extending the game after the damn battle, or everybody is going to need to make new characters for each DLC.
It wouldn't even be that hard to do a broken steel type DLC anyways, it seems like it'd work quite well with the planned story for "the divide"
I have a couple characters, one I'm using for the DLC.
Dead Money was really good, they really brought their A-game with the dialogue and writing. It makes me really excited for Old World Blues, since a Cheyenne Mountain-esque military base sounds like a great setting in the game. If Obsidian keeps making DLCs like these, they've got my money.

Only problem with that is, there's a lot of endings. It was easy with FO3, since there was only one real ending, and they only had to do one linear quest track. It's possible, but it'd take about as much time as a sequel.
Hey I got an idea, is it possible to bring all the gold to the exit, and drop it there. Then, when your escaping, you pick them all up before the exit?

The last part of the statement is absurd. Most of it would simply be removing certain characters from the game, and replacing others. Undeniably, this was really badly planned. Whats probably going to end up happening is they'll raise the level cap to 50, and make all the enemies bullet sponges. Theres going to be a lot of inconsistencies and absurdness. You'll go back to the regular Mojave and you'll be able to beat up deathclaws with your bare hands as if everything is child's play in comparison to the numerous superhumans you face in the DLCs.
I have a couple characters, one I'm using for the DLC.
I did that too, for dead money. I needed to get to level 20 so I could face whats in the sierra madre. After I left, I was level 30. Unless they raise the level cap to some absurd number I just don't see how they can do this in a way thats not totally sloppy. I'm at level 30 with my "dlc character" and 4 of my skills are maxed already, by the time the other DLCs roll around we're all going to be level 35 and have a perfect skillset.
I wonder if they'll do a DLC going Westward, with some of the old places from FO1 and 2. I'd love to see how Hub or Vault City has become over the years.
What they are probably doing so far is:
- The Big Empty/Big Mountain Military Facility
- New Cannan/Zion National Park
- "The Great Divide" described as a battle fought "on the edge of the world" so likely a very mountainous place, maybe The Great Western Divide
There may be up to three more after that. But like I said, if there were a total of 7 DLCs, I'm having a hard time imagining how the heck they'll be implemented considering how the leveling/skills work in New Vegas.
i entered dead money at level 11 and survived
i had to use a mod that removed the headsplode radio frequencies and changed the radroaches to baby molerats, though
Someone just uploaded this to DA

They're probably going to be fighting in the rockies since it's a divider in the U.S.A

I prefer not finishing the game at all, it's still frozen at the wildcard quest for me.
[editline]3rd March 2011[/editline]
less permanent changes to the game that way.

I was just going to bring that up.
Tried out most of the companions now, Raul is definately my favourite.
Plus I like how he calls me boss.
