So I got Fallout 3, it's a hell of a lot gloomier than New Vegas, as well as a hell of a lot crashier. The game crashes to desktop every time I even go near Mr Burke.
Well then what do you think you should stop doing? :v:
I went near him once and it crashed. I reloaded and thought that going near Mr Burke was the cause of the crash, so I did it again. Crash.

No man a drivable one
Anyone else here make your own house? You do know that when you put items into a container it never goes away? I make a new house every play through but in Fallout 3 my main base was a indoor area under a bridge next to the pentagon, and in New Vegas it was a shack in the Nellis airfield with a crafting bench and a reloading bench.
Reason i think why i like Fallout 3 is because i have never played Fallout 1 or 2, didn't really know about them at the time and didn't care to play them, i have that attitude of, "If i've never played that old game from the 90s before, to me it has shit graphics and i don't care about it" otherwise it's, "Yeah i used to play that game, in fact i still do every now and then" I'm not shitting on how graphics used to be, i still play on some PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Emulator Games like R-Type and what not, but if i never played it before in my life and someone says i should for their reason, i just don't bother regardless of how good they think it is, it's old and i won't enjoy it much. (Again, not picking at Graphics, don't think i am)
lol
lol
that argument is kind of stupid because New Vegas improved just about every way 3 went wrong. Camper gurl's, that is.
What the fuck has happened to the Nexus? I haven't used it in a few months and I come back to shitty 30 second video ads. Also, it is bad I've played through FO3 atleast 5 times and still not explored everywhere :smith:
that argument is kind of stupid because New Vegas improved just about every way 3 went wrong. Camper gurl's, that is.
Well, I liked FO3's ambience, at least. Vegas was too empty, the sky was so blue, the sun was so bright... FO3 felt more apocalyptic, with a grey sky and the devastated city. New Vegas was a happy desert, after all.

Fallout 3 was a much bigger game than New Vegas - in terms of world-size. Perhaps even the original games, too, if you only consider the places you can directly control the player in. New Vegas compensated for that by having several times as many sidequests, not to mention the sheer volume of dialogue. Still, saying Fallout 3 is non-canon? Wrong. There are very few places where it completely disagrees with the original canon - plus, the game takes place on the other side of the continent! Generally, there's usually a good explanation as to why it deviates in the first place.

In the first game, the "Remnants" armor we see everywhere is Mark one. When we finally get the Mark 2, it is still a prototype, and has yet to be fielded. I think they Just redesigned the mark 2 to be less bulky then the MK 1, what with the round back hunch and heavy torso. Problem solved!

Fallout 3 is like if you got dumped and used that as an excuse to be lazy for mopey for a while. [editline]8th April 2011[/editline]
Still, saying Fallout 3 is non-canon? For some reason FEV is now in DC and Vault Tec is now involved The Enclave is not dead after all and is even more powerful The Brotherhood of Steel went from being kind of neutral assholes to Knights in Shining Armor. The GECK in Fallout 2 was filled with seeds and water purifying tablets and other shit, in Fallout 3 its some sort of god device that might blow you up. I could go on.
Fallout 3 contradicts canon a lot. For some reason FEV is now in DC and Vault Tec is now involved. Vault-Tec was running an experiment with it. What makes that so unbelievable? The Enclave is not dead after all and is even more powerful. I wouldn't say they were "more powerful". They fielded considerably less soldiers and had no chain of command. It's reasonable to assume the Enclave had some fallback strategy, ergo Raven Rock (Which is a real place) and the Mobile Base Crawler. The Brotherhood of Steel went from being kind of neutral assholes to Knights in Shining Armor. Well durr it's not like they explain it in the game. And there TOTALLY isn't a group of outcast dedicated to the brotherhoods original mission. The GECK in Fallout 2 was filled with seeds and water purifying tablets and other shit, in Fallout 3 its some sort of god device that might blow you up. Either this was a retcon, or it's a different GECK. It wouldn't be unreasonable to think that vaults that were built later on would have a considerably more advanced tech, since they had more funding and research behind them. I could go on.

Vault-Tec was running an experiment with it. What makes that so unbelievable?
Well for one it has been said many times by different Fallout devs, including Tim Cain (he kinda created Fallout) that it was an isolated MILITARY experiment at the Mariposa Military Base, and to have it in DC with Vault-Tec involved makes no sense and is just dumb. I feel like a fucking nerd.
Only the thing about FEV and the GECK contradict canon. Also why are you listing the brotherhood there?
you can really see how strict they are.
"Well you retrieved some packages and shit, I guess you can join us despite you being a total stranger" Not really strict, IMO. It would have been better if the quest to join them was something badass and heroic, like fighting for them somewhere, saving some paladins' life etc. Instead it was a series of "go there, fetch shit" things.

If Vault-Tec had even a HUNCH that an experiment might be worthwhile, they would do it, and the government would give them whatever they needed. Something that would really gain their trust.
Thats kind of how they've always been, hell in the first game, in order be let inside to the bunker they send you to The Glow to die so they don't have to deal with you again, but once you come back its nothing but "oh you lived? go do this and that for us".
REPCON was a giant missed opertunity, we should have been able to retrieve te Q-35 schematics for the brotherhood.
No. I wanted to go in depth about how your wrong, but a simple no works just as well.
A company comes up to you (the government) and offers you the guaranteed safety of your people. You turn into a giant ear.
Because it annoys me so much, and now that New Vegas is out you can really see how strict they are.
Well it may have been annoying but it inst non-canon like you insisted. I have been really thinking about it, and I realized, I have no fucking clue why I don't like the idea of FEV in a Vault-Tec, someone in the Bethesda camp needs to explain in depth why Vault-Tec would be interested in a chemical used to make super soldiers, and why its in a Vault in DC when its being STILL being developed at a Military base in California. It makes no sense to me :psyduck:
