Morrowind also sometimes marked things on your map and said "it's east of here", though that didn't happen often.
I like to know roughly where I am headed. The way Morrowwind did it seemed good, road markers point you when they can, people "help" otherwise.
Yes, anything but magic quest markers that scream CASUAL SHIT.
I guess it's because it was supposed to be more like 50s vegas, but that doesn't excuse the tininess of vegas or the fact that the strip has a bunch of fucking buses in the middle of it. If gamebryo could handle the cities in oblivion it sure as hell could have handled the fucking strip. I think it's one cell but the doors are there so that there aren't too many NPCs that might overload the 360s pathetic processor. Are there any mods that make the strip uninterrupted like it should be?
You know, New Vegas still feels too small even when compared to 50s Vegas and even without all of those nasty gates around. It feels like there is so much wasted potential to New Vegas. When I first went to New Vegas, I was expecting this huge city with casinos, clubs, resorts, and everything else you would expect from the glitzy town of Vegas. Instead, I was greeted by four casinos (one of them you can't even gamble at), a cheap motel, a sign factory, and an embassy. It's minuscule size just really disappointed me. I really hope some day someone creates a mod that enlarges the Strip.
I'm thinking about getting the mod that lets you run and own the lucky 38.
They did it with Oblivion, expect to see it here too at some point. having to enter a new cell just to change casino is annoying as fuck.
No, but they broke up the strip, a fairly small stretch of road, with like 3 doors. That's ridiculous.
No, but they broke up the strip, a fairly small stretch of road, with like 3 doors. That's ridiculous.
I found the size of Vegas really pathetically small and I'm very disappointed in whoever's idea it was to make it so tiny From Goodsprings Cemetary, even there where it SHOULD look huge (have you SEEN vegas?!) it's nothing.

What a disappointment.
I blame the shitty engine.
What amazes me more is that D.C. in Fallout 3 was like , five times bigger then the entirety of the strip, and no one complained about performance loss, so there's literally no excuse for the tiny pissant strip that they made. Even just the area around the Washington Monument was bigger than the strip, AND had more characters in it (at least 15 supermutants, the entire encampment of slavers, the enclave at the other end).
DC was also pretty much a ghost town, and it was split up into a shit ton of areas you can only get to through subways and such bullshit.
See, now we've struck the core problem here: Bethesda is better at making RPGs, but Obsidian is better at making Fallout games. now if we could just MERGE the two, Fallout 4 would kick both 3 and NV's asses.
But there were 3 times as many enemies. Where as in New Vegas, most people besides the Raiders/Fiends leave you alone unless you are an enemy of their faction. Hell, even the Legion who are known for killing and enslaving everything in their path, just call you a profligate when you wander around them.
As I remember, D.C. was filled with a shitton of ghouls, smaller factions, slaver, mutants of all sorts, the enclave, raiders, robots, and an entire clusterfuck of pretty much every bad guy type in the wasteland. They just weren't all in the same place at the same time. And I stand by the Washington monument statement, they could've easily made the strip the same size, with a bunch more locations, clubs etc., and just stuck a bunch of people in there. They could've still had the smaller areas blocked off by doors and walls like they did in D.C. in Fallout 3, and random bystanders just walking around to look nice are probably less intense on a PC than a bunch of assholes who want to brutally murder you.
I liked DC better than New Vegas. I hate the sort of brown tint in New Vegas. The only thing I didn't like about DC was all the fucking metro tunnels you had to go through. DC seemed much more open with more things, maybe cause it wasn't 75% desert :frown:
Ain't that a kick in the head?
i thought the strip would be alot bigger than it was ingame, when i saw the trailers and posters, i thought it was a whole city
Which also reminds me, are there any mods that make the strip bigger?

Fewer drawcalls and the models were lower detail New Vegas = 5 cells total DC = 15+ cells There no comparison to be made here, unless they decided to divide up the sections of vegas then it wouldn't work. Gamebryo's rendering setup is just garbage, especially in regards to LOD models and you cant really divide up vegas into a bunch of sections like DC.
So why couldn't they divide it into sections then? I'm not saying just having the entire city as one cell, I'm just saying I'd like more places to go in a city that's the main focus of the game.

Love it that NV was an entirely flat map. No loading screens required to get from one end to another.
