Argue some more, I like it, especially since it's on my account.... EQ2 Thread anyway, not LOTRO, I am allowed to assume what the topic is based on the title of the thread
How about all of you shut up and stop shitting up the thread. Who cares, lets get back to our regular programing.
EQ2.
I'm going to be downloading this version and make an account for this version of the game. I have a account that I would usually pay 15 dollars for but I can't be bothered reactivating so I'm going to see how this does com paired to the real thing. Can't complain though, specially if it is free.
Yeah, I re-subscribed to EQ2 normal. Bugger paying extra for a Gnome v:v:v I got the 1-month subscription at a discount as well for some reason so it's coo'.
Hmmm. So I actually got enough of the client downloaded to play it, and I made an Erudite Wizard. Level 8 so far, started at the place with the lizards. Fun game

Until you can't get your spells above Adept.

Yeah that is the shitty thing, but though most of the new spells you unlock will replace what spell you're trying to upgrade anyway. Even with Fable or better spell upgrades some of my new adapt I or II's to way more damage then the older spells with fable. So it is really just a waiting game.

With that said, I think I'll give the game another go then, if the quests stay fun that is, and doesn't turn into a grind fest.
I bought this about 4 years ago. Maybe I should re-sub.

Usually it is fun, specially with a group and going in to dungeons. I always find I had most fun when I got in to the more advance areas and you get to explore them all.
Is it just me or is EQ2 very unoptimized? The game looks rather bad on High settings and I still seem to only get about 30fps with my GTX 285 1gb/Q6600/6GB of RAM.

Wondering the exact same thing.
I feel retarded for actually paying for this game now, and been doing it since release pretty much (with breaks every now and then) :sigh:
I would assume the fact that since Sony is streaming the data to you as you are playing could be a factor to low performance and shity graphics.
Yes, EQ2 is VERY unoptimized.
Well no, I've got it all downloaded now so it's not the streamer.
The game is very CPU heavy, at the time it was made, Graphics cards were called accelerators, and alot of computers had very week GPUs, but now they are optimizing slowly with new additions like GPU shadows and Shader 3.0 (which makes the game look really dark)

The game is fairly old put in mind as well. Came out in 2004.
Personally I've never had problems with it, put in mind I tweak it so I get the best results. Though it is like you said, unoptimized.
You have to play with settings to make it run perfectly on your computer. Hell before I was running this game on a old computer with a GeForce 5200 FX.
You could have the best system on the market and you still wouldn't be able to run EQ2 on highest everything with a decent FPS, so don't expect to ever run it maxed out if you're going to play it. Disappointing, too, because if they had optimized it, it'd be an extremely beautiful game.
I play on everything maxed out, and I pull 30-60 fps depending on the zone, e.g. Qeynos Harbor
Okay so SoE are experimenting with F2P systems too.
Now do it on a game worth caring about, like Planetside.
Okay so I played it for like an hour, it just seems like another generic MMO where you click on shit to attack it then mash 12345 until it dies.
Oh and it runs terribly, but that's already been mentioned.
Please come back when you've played for more then an hour, then you can say you dislike it.
I play this game on and off an hour here an hour there its pretty fun I have to admit the graphics are great but the thing I enjoy most is the storyline It's amazing like I'm actually involved in questing and that's something I never got when I played WoW.

No, I think I can formulate my own time of play to decide if I like something or not.
So one of the most famous MMOs ever is F2P now?Goodie. Is the levelling fast enough to not bore me into quitting? And what are the four races available with the free mode?
Edit:Don't tell me,I figured out.
Everquest II Extended is officially out of beta stage. The store should be fully accessible.
[quote]To celebrate the launch, EQ2X players can claim their free Staff of the Rising Phoenix from the in-game Marketplace on the Freeport server. They limit your Customer Support? What the fuck.
It's free after all. How many free games even have support?
Usually the forums is a good place to get what you need anyway. It is a more faster way of solving your issue, you don't have to wait or answer a hundred questions by support.
So many races... Which one is the best :froggonk:
