Do you guys remember what they did with the Wii. They showed a bunch of colors that ended up not coming out except for white and black. They will most likely release one color :(
Yeah but the Wii is a console - the color doesn't really matter. The 3DS, however, is a handheld, and the color would be more important to people. [editline]04:39PM[/editline] The DS Lite came in many colors.
That is true. Shit better in green:kamina:
It's pretty crazy that they put 3D into a handheld when most people don't even have it on their tvs yet.
It's pretty crazy that they put 3D into a handheld when most people don't even have it on their tvs yet.
It's because this sort of technology works best on a handheld. What I hate about this "3D craze" is that it's expensive and you have to wear special glasses if you want it to work. Ultimately, a glasses-free solution would be perfectly fine as you would only need to purchase a new TV and it wouldn't be too different from watching normal TV. However, with current technology, that's very hard to do effectively since the user has to look at the screen at a certain position to get the effect. Having bad viewing angles is a killer for home televisions. This technology, though, is perfect for a handheld simply because the user *always* looks at the screen from the front, and it's limited to one user. It was very smart for Nintendo to pick up this technology and adapt it to a product that would make it work best without problems.

What's the display frequency on the screen? 60Hz?
Do you guys know when the specs will be shown to us?
It's pretty crazy that they put 3D into a handheld when most people don't even have it on their tvs yet.
It's easier to introduce it on a handheld than on a console, because handhelds come with their own screens while consoles use the (probably not 3d) tv screen.
Do you guys know when the specs will be shown to us?
No idea, Nintendo is always very carefully with releasing specs for their consoles. But it looks like it's a bit stronger than the psp, maybe even stronger than the PS2/GameCube(?)
I might buy it. Just for Nintendogs + cats.
Apparently it's stronger than a PS2.
In terms of polys, it is around dreamcast levels. Its shader models however, are around ps3/360 levels. From the screenshots released, and some rumors around the net, it will have full shader model 3.0 support. It's going to be awesome. :buddy:

It will definitely entice a lot of third party devs if they don't have to use ass backwards code to get things running on the 3ds.
Every time I see the "Naked Sample" bit in the title of MGS3, I begin to get more and more worried it might not be a full fledged game and instead just a tech demo like what they showed at E3
you know what the term "sample" means, right? evidently not [editline]11:36AM[/editline]
In terms of polys, it is around dreamcast levels. I can't wait to see the specs though.
That power button looks to be in a fucking stupid place. Should have had it as a slider on the side.
That power button looks to be in a fucking stupid place. Should have had it as a slider on the side.
It's in the same place as the DSi. Having used one for a week, I have to say it doesn't really get in the way.
That power button looks to be in a fucking stupid place. Should have had it as a slider on the side.
Exactly what I thought. It looks way too easy to accidentally catch.
Actually if the graphics are ps2-gamecube like it's going to be awesome because to be honest I kinda missed games like vice city.
Well, it is rumored to be on TEGRA, isn't it?
It was rumored, but I heard the deal went sour. Something about price, If I remember correctly. I've said "rumor" or "heard" so many times in this thread. I hope they release some concrete stuff soon.
you know what the term "sample" means, right? evidently not
The way I see it, it could just be a "sample" of the 3D and graphics capabilities of the 3DS. Most likely not, it could be a sample from the overall game, but you never know.

I was just getting worried because of the title and I noticed Snake's outfit was different than the original MGS3, he's wearing his Portable Ops/Peacewalker outfit. I figured if it was a full fledged port of MGS3 they'd keep the camo on him for gameplay's sake  I'm just looking too much into things I guess
I've said "rumor" or "heard" so many times in this thread. I hope they release some concrete stuff soon.
We're talking about Nintendo here. It's a wonder that they even let people try the 3DS.
Can't wait to stick my dick in it.
If it has MGS3 on it, with everything that it had on PS2, no DS version, no bullshit, just MGS3 with no features removed (possibly even features added e.g. better graphics) then I will buy a 3DS.

It does not use tegra. It uses one of dmp's pica200 series gpus. It's an opengl es1.1 gpu with ES2.0 shader support through a hardware pipeline. Low power consumption at the cost of not having fully programmable shaders. So it isn't too far off the guess at shader model 3.0. Slightly better, some would argue. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=398994 Here is a youtube tech demo of the pica200 chips (ignore the crappy artistic direction at futuremark): It looks to have soft shadowing, normal and specular maps, some tessellation on the cloth, and some other effects I can't figure out. All in all, impressive.
Yeah, I've been reading their thread on it. Seems strong enough if people have the effort to utilize it correctly.
