If Kojima can whip the PSP into the graphically awesome Peace Walker, then I'm sure he can whip the 3ds into mgs3.
It does not use tegra. It uses one of dmp's pica200 series gpus. It's an opengl es1.1 gpu with ES2.0 shader support through a hardware pipeline. Low power consumption at the cost of not having fully programmable shaders. So it isn't too far off the guess at shader model 3.0. Slightly better, some would argue.

Here is a youtube tech demo of the pica200 chips (ignore the crappy artistic direction at futuremark):

It looks to have soft shadowing, normal and specular maps, some tessellation on the cloth, and some other effects I can't figure out. All in all, impressive.
looks awesome

Tech demos always look a lot better than the games that actually come out, because, for example in that video it's just a platform with some models and that one samurai being animated. Impressive, but if you were to get an entire level of those...
Can someone explain how 3D without glasses works?

Read the thread.
is it me or does that look massive, why don't they just show it 1:1
Also, according to Kaz Hirai:
“In in-house research, naked eye 3D for portable machines is not high and there are presently limits for it.”
I'd say needing to wear glasses for 3D is much more of a limitation.

It's either that or the red version I'll buy.
Definitely going to buy this, looks fucking sexy.

The gold one, that is.

Is the stylus in the back of the system? :gonk:

Just incase nobody has seen this yet:

Impressive, however that is the GPU only being used for graphics. Not even sure what else it does yet. It won't look that pretty in practice.

Someone probably said this already, but the 3DS is clearly made for right-handed people.
If a game uses both the analog nub (or whatever it's called) and the touchscreen, left-handed people like me are going to have trouble :/

as a lefty too, i really don't see how it's hard to hold the stylus with your right hand. i played metroid prime hunters just fine like that.

Launch in march 2011. Posted already?
That video says Biohazard: Revelations. Then why is Chris Redfield in it? An extension of RE5?
They better fix the problem where my DSi stylus would adjust to the case, and become too small to stay inside after 1 use.

If I am not mistaken, Biohazard is Japanese name for Resident Evil.

No, when you put it in the DSi, it adjusts to that shape, and falls out.

It doesn't. My stick still stays in after about 6 months of use. Can't say the same about my DS which I gave to my little sister who chews on the damn stylus.
We're all talking about the "3ds".. I feel like I'm in the future
I'm too lazy read through this entire thread but did they say if the 3DS will be compatible with the DS Lite?
