Hgnnn, release date for Cliffs of Dover in the US has been pushed back another week. Why? Why, Ubisoft why!? The game will have been out for almost nearly a month everywhere else before we get the game.
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/03/22/no-oceans-call-for-worldwide-release-dates/ That's not so funny when it's the US on the wrong end of the stick

So is Cliffs of Dover a completely separate game, or does it integrate with Sturmovik 1946? Can I open up the mission editor and fly P-38s and Zeroes in the English Channel map?
It's a complete sequel. 1946 was the last edition of Sturmovik and the most recent patches have been developed by a different team.

Don't turn this into a personal attack. No one said it was fair for the entire world to get shafted on release dates.

It was never meant to be a personal attack, sorry if you felt that way. I was targeting a "general gloating crowd" type of person, the type to make a deal out of always getting games that little bit earlier. I'm really aiming for the goal RPS are pushing for there, unified worldwide release dates. Good to see that people see the bright side of a delayed release though.

I work retail and holding games and movies is the WORST. I can kind of understand movies but when you get a game in a week prior to the release date it gets very frustrating. Especially when the rules change. The rule of thumb is that new releases (DVDs, music, games) come out on Tuesday. Nintendo said "fuck the rules" and now releases 3DS games on Sundays which is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of and would have never known about it unless this customer came in and got all ticked off that we didn't have the new Splinter Cell game out on the floor. Trying to keep up with release dates is the worst thing ever because you think you've got it figured out and a co-worker will just come along and botch it all up accidentally. It'd be nicer to just get everything sent to stores at the same time from warehouses to create a more unified release than to just make them hold it because a lot of retailers like us have to rely on Google or IGN to find out release dates of certain product. although some shipments are nice and have a big orange label saying "DO NOT PUT OUT UNTIL [DATE]" which is kind of nice.

I overreacted as well. Also 69105, the reason digital distribution can't release earlier is because of retail stores. They've complained that digital distribution has an unfair advantage since they don't have to wait for shipments. As a result, digital releases have to be delayed to coincide with retail. It's all a bunch of shit though, since oftentimes stores will have game stocks a few days early anyway.
And that's my biggest problem, electrical systems. It's why I hate most modern flight simulators. The electrical systems are so overwhelming. In IL-2, it's just click the trigger and shoot. In A-10, it's turn on weapons systems, cycle through the weapon, engage some other shit, then you're ready to fire.
I wish more modern flight sim makers would do more 1970s-1980s jets (Like early-model F-15s and F-16s, and maybe MiG-23s). There's enough advanced avionics and weapons to give it the modern "feel", but not too complex that you need a 70-page section in the manual dedicated to using the left MFD or the fancy digital targeting system.
Protip: if the server isn't on and you want to play then consult the following guide: 1- Contact me on steam (proceed to label 1A,B,C) 2- Cry in a corner and die (proceed to not play IL2) 1A- I start the server and I get some friends and then the server has about six people in it. 1B- I start the server and I get some friends and then the server has about five people in it because I don't feel like playing. 1C- You get to play with yourself because I'm not at my computer. It's a helpful guide that should not be forgotten!

Ah, IL2. Unfortunately, despite having owned every game in the series (Before Cliffs of Dover), I've never played it online.
You should play it because it's awesome.

When you play, turn SSAO off, this is essential!
Ok yeah what the balls. The game has been pushed back to MAY 24th. Seriously what the fuck? I'm probably going to have to get someone to gift it to me and paypal them the money back. This is a joke. First we get the game late by about 2 weeks. I can deal with that. Then they push it back another week. Frustrated, but ok another week to perfect the game. But a whole month afterwards? Holy shit. I have exactly $50 for this game, but now it seems really hard not to just buy something else and say fuck it.
They probably want to fix the game first. They better fix it, I payed £29.99 for this :argh: [editline]16th April 2011[/editline] Hopefully the new patch will do something for me. I get home tomorrow so I guess I'll find out then

I'm having so much fun filling the british airfields with planes taking off then making stukas attack as the german bombers pass over ahead while getting pounded by flak.
