Gonna go play in the Skies of Fire server now.
God damnit I'm not sure if I should reinstall :ohdear:
Does this game take fucking weeks to learn how to play like every other flight simulator? If not I might try it.
It has quite a lot of settings to make it less realistic, and easier to fly. Stuff like infinite ammo, no stalling, etc, so if it's too hard, you can make it a lot easier.
What sort of difficulty is mulitplayer usually at? Like do people use limited ammo/fuel, are stalls/spins usually enabled?
I think the only major things that are off, in general, are complex engine management, and maybe force cockpit. You can expect limited fuel and ammo, as well as stalls & spins, for sure.
Fff, I spawned at the same time as another friendly plane, twice, in the same spot by chance, and I was the only one who got the teamkill minus score for it (because the first plane that falls to the ground is the one who doesn't get penalties). And then when I was chasing an enemy plane, another friendly fighter behind me got a bit too close and chopped my wing off, and I his. And once again my luck ran out and he fell to the ground first. I got autokicked at -840 score. Stupid system.
Haha, it is F and V by default. V lowers them, F raises them. Some planes have more settings for them than others, but in general they can be raised, combat, takeoff, or landing. As they get lower they produce more lift so you don't stall out when trying to land or need a mile long runway when taking off. Make sure they're at combat or raised when you actually get up to speed, otherwise they can jam up or tear off. Sorry if I'm telling you stuff you already know. :v:
You are most definitely not telling me things I need to know. I haven't a clue what I'm doing right now. Also, any ways of bumping resolution past 1280 by something. I want it at 1440x900 or is that not possibe? One more thing, is it a deliberate thing where left unnatended planes sort of drift of course, mostly to the left. I callibrated my joystick, so its not that.

The menus will be in 4:3 but the ingame will be widescreen. [editline]07:20PM[/editline]
You are most definitely not telling me things I need to know. Took some screens. I only realized how horrible the ground looks on my settings from them (no time to concentrate on ground details in dogfights). From the Skies of Fire server with about 50 players at the time. Zero on my ass (behind the gauges) which shot one of my tail wings off. Thankfully I was saved by a FW190 player who set it ablaze. But a few seconds later a spitfire dove from above and turned my plane into a stick. Me and another 109 chasing an enemy. [editline]07:29PM[/editline] Oh and just for old times sake, here's the playerlist on the FP server back when we all played together and it was popular. You can tell the game is serious when I need to consult wikipedia when choosing a plane.
Zero is a great starter plane, the A6M7 model. It doesn't stall easily and is very agile at low speeds. The only downsides for it are the weak armor and that it can't turn worth shit when speed goes over 400. It's a turn fighter meant for low-med speeds.
I'm reinstalling now.
You can tell the game is serious when I need to consult wikipedia when choosing a plane.
I just pick a random plane and hope for the best. But after playing for a while, I must say, I prefer the FWs for dogfights, and the Spitfires are good all round planes, but this is just based on my experiences.
Trying to use hyperlobby, where is il2.exe? I can't find it anywhere! EDIT: Never mind, I had to go on forgotten battles rather than Il-2 But I think I have to patch it now. Says I'm using wrong version of game.
Could someone write a quick guide on how to take off (so i can print it off) because i can't remember that good from tutorials (I learn as i go) but i really suck at taking off. :frown:
Could someone write a quick guide on how to take off (so i can print it off) because i can't remember that good from tutorials (I learn as i go) but i really suck at taking off. :frown:
Put flaps on take off, radiator open (if you have one, press r), power up the engine just a bit and slowly roll onto the runway. Then just put it on full blast, use the controls to keep your plane straight and lift off very carefully. If you pull the stick too hard, it will stall. Then gears up with g, rise your flaps and off you go. [editline]08:27PM[/editline] 00:00 Sortie Start 01:24 Victory over jmdmit in his SpitfireMkVbLF. 03:51 Victory over Timbaboy in his La-5. 04:17 Team killed commander_death. Court Marshalled. 04:18 Bailed out. 04:20 Killed in action. 04:30 Disconnected from game (AUTOBANNED for three teamkills which weren't even my fault FUCK) Now to wait until the ban runs out.
Its really hard to get the fucking plane to go in a straight line on take off. I weave like a motherfucker.
Its really hard to get the fucking plane to go in a straight line on take off. I weave like a motherfucker.
There's a button for locking your tail wheel straight. Helps a lot.
What's the button? Also, what servers do you guys play on? I'd love to join you. Is there much team based flying or is it all just flying around like crazy? If we could fly in formation, that would kick ass.
Hey orkel, do you use that AAA mod? [editline]08:47PM[/editline]
What's the button? Also, what servers do you guys play on? I'd love to join you. When taking off, i go everywhere (left right center, and when i'm couple of m of the ground, up side down) How the hell can i stop this?
When taking off, i go everywhere (left right center, and when i'm couple of m of the ground, up side down) How the hell can i stop this?
Bind tailwheel lock in the options.
When taking off, i go everywhere (left right center, and when i'm couple of m of the ground, up side down) How the hell can i stop this?
Be gentler with the controls and get more speed before you lift the plane off the ground, especially with that JU-87 you were flying. And are you sure your joystick is calibrated correctly? [editline]09:28PM[/editline]
Hey orkel, do you use that AAA mod?
But ofcourse.
It's just you said you go on the skies of fire server, but it's 4.08m not 4.09m
Was in the same server with Stylee for a while, also killed two bf110s. [editline]09:31PM[/editline]
It's just you said you go on the skies of fire server, but it's 4.08m not 4.09m
AAA works with both versions.
Was in the same server with Stylee for a while, also killed two bf110s.
And i sucked most of the time, but i was learning... learning
How do you start twin-engined planes?
Ctrl + # to select each individual engine. For example, Ctrl + 1 = engine 1 Ctrl + 2 = engine 2, and so on.
How do you start twin-engined planes?
You have to start the engines separately. See controls for choosing each engine and then press "i" to start them up one by one. [editline]10:34PM[/editline] dammit tictac
I downloaded AAA, but it's 4.09b1m or something when I try and use the corresponding .bat files, so I can only join non AAA or b1m AAA servers.
