Birds of Prey is still inferior to the original IL-2. It doesn't keep to its realism, due to the fact that you get 80 kills in one mission, the firepower is basically the same for every plane, and you can't control the plane after it says "Shot down". Storm of War will be like IL-2 but better, hopefully.
Also when hitting the ground your plane doesn't break apart it just explodes. Birds of prey was Ok, nothing special.
Also when hitting the ground your plane doesn't break apart it just explodes. Birds of prey was Ok, nothing special.
Actually I like that aspect better. In IL-2 if your plane hits the water or the ground you just bounce off it and in some cases it acts like nothing happened and you can recover from it. I can't count the number of times when I fucked up a dive and hit the water or the ground only to bounced back off of it and continued on my merry way with nary a scratch. [editline]02:06PM[/editline] In short, planes bounce all over the place like the ground and water is made of rubber. Edit: Never mind. I had realistic landings turned off.
Been playing the demo for Wings of Prey quite a lot now. I love it. I'll consider buying it when I get the chance. Although I doubt people will be playing it and I bet you can't be more than 16 players online.
Turn on realistic landings.
Shouldn't that only apply when trying to actively land the plane?
Shouldn't that only apply when trying to actively land the plane?
Nope.
Nope.
Oh. Well, that explains a lot then.
Realistic landings = You hit the ground, you crash, unless it's gentle enough I've got very low in a dive and struck my tail on the ground before, only just, and come away, but Realistic Landings = Crash
No one answered this correctly, but you can adjust your trim settings. The reason the plane tends to go upwards is because of the shape of its wings. You can adjust the trim to make it so you fly straight. By not doing so, and then having to correct it endlessly, you are wasting fuel and airspeed. Also the plane tends to go to the right or left because of the spinning of the propeller applying a force in said direction.
Oh ok, thanks. But now I have to constantly adjust my trim to fit the current height and speed and everything, And there is no time for that in combat. Is there some indicator I can use to set it more quickly?
How do I adjust the trim? Is it the flaps? Like when you set them to combat or something?
Check the control settings, it should be under Elevator trim
Is the FP server gone?
Ctrl+Up/Down arrow = elevator Trim by default I find it's best to hold down Ctrl+Uparrow for about a second and just leave it. You don't want to fly using Trim you want to fly using the stick, so what this does is counter the plane's tendency to pitch up during higher speeds some, you can always adjust it more or less but You won't always be flying at 500kph Anyone using Tiger 33's Sound Mod? How the hell do you install it, I'd hate to guess and get it wrong, The instructions say Delete folders, but... that's it
Alright...I installed Hyperlobby, I try to connect to a game, but it's not working. I stay at the main screen of Il-Sturmovik. I know I'll get my ass kicked, but I want to try online.

I guess that massive radiator must've helped alot
I'm really considering getting this, maybe Wings of Prey as well but not too sure. I might be getting a £100 bonus from college this friday, hopefully, so if I don't find a cheap HD camera i'll get this! I have a 360 pad but would quite like a joystick.

So does an FP server still exist or am I too late for the party?
So does an FP server still exist or am I too late for the party?
I think so, I haven't been on recently though so it might have gone down. If it is up, anyone up for a game? [sp] RIGHT NOW?[/sp]
I'll play, but last time I checked(last nigth) it was down.
I just flew with my P40 after flying with LA7's and MIG's and found out that it had absolutely stunningly terrible climb performance. I cound't even do the immelman turn on my first try. But it still remains as one of the best looking planes in my opinion.
Also I don't know wether I've gotten better or the pc has gotten worse but I seem to shoot down the Comp with 90% fatalaty rate to the target. On the other 10% he escapes cause I run out of ammo, lose all altitute and stall thanks to the rudder tending to get fucked up randomly. It happened overnight, before I had really, really hard time surviving a rookie airplane for longer than 3 minutes without being engulfed in flames, but now I can take down an avarage opponent before I even enter scissors. Did AAA mess around with the AI at all?

There's this one plane in AAA that has the engines on the tips of its wings that's impossible to fly. After short while it becomes uncontrollable and doesn't respond to input.
The BI-6? Its in vanilla IL-2 and its uncontrollable too.
The BI-6? Its in vanilla IL-2 and its uncontrollable too.
It is? I never saw it before.
The BI-6? Its in vanilla IL-2 and its uncontrollable too.
You can control it to the point when the wingtip engines activate, then it will force itself into a loop until it runs out of fuel.
Whenever I used it the controls locked up and it went into a nose dive.
Whenever I used it the controls locked up and it went into a nose dive.
Lower the airspeed, or try to stay under 750kmph, which is almost impossible with the bi-6 :P.
Lower the airspeed, or try to stay under 750kmph, which is almost impossible with the bi-6 :P.
Well it makes sense that it acts like it does. It was only a prototype and was unreliable. Most pilots could only get the earlier models to fly properly at around 400km/s.
On March 27, during a low-altitude test flight, Backchivandzhi pushed the aircraft's speed. After 78 seconds, the plane went into a 45-degree dive and crashed into the ground, killing the beloved pilot.
This is almost exactly what happens with the Bi-6 the only difference is that the plane in the quote is the Bi-1, but I'd assume that it was a design flaw that persisted throughout all the models.
