Real men take down enemies with their landing gear.
:clint:
Sometimes I just ram Zeros with my wing and see my plane go mostly unharmed while the zero disintegrates
I only take down enemies with gear during a Coop mission or on a bomber wing.
Is there a way to get this to run with Win7? I bought it and now it wont work and I probably can't return it.

Worked fine for me, what is you're problem?
Try running as admin

Does it really not work with Win7? Can anyone confirm this.

Runs fine for me. Updated video drivers/patch/etc?
Nah, you have to get first good enough to take off and fly to where everyone's fighting before you are able to get your ass kicked online.
Taking off is easy as hell...it's just landing.

Landing is easy if you have some fucking patience. :colbert:

I have patience and landing is still hard. I always hit the runway to fast and break the landing gear.

Come in low, full flaps, gear down, and with around 60% throttle. Go to around 35-45 when you get close, and as soon as your gear touches, kill the throttle, and apply the brakes.

I run it on Windows 7, don't even have to set compatibility with it, it just works
Although sometimes I get some graphical errors, but switching from openGL to DirectX rendering (In-game option) Solves it, And I got the same problem on a completely different PC with all different hardware and with XP so I doubt it's a Windows 7 problem

Just mind the brakes, I've fucked up a few decent landing attempts by flipping forward due to braking a little too vigorously. :v:
Is anybody on the server?
I have patience and landing is still hard. I always hit the runway to fast and break the landing gear.
Full Flaps, come in slow, and by slow I mean you are pulling up and your nose is pointing up but you're still descending... I try to land where my wheels and tailwheel all touch at the same time, so you have to be coming in slow to do that, but not too slow, else it'll lose lift and you'll crash down hard in the last few feet and break the gear anyway, I find 140km/h seems to be the sweet spot for landing for most single prop aircraft
And if you're coming in too fast to keep the tail wheel on the ground without lifting off, raise the flaps as soon as your gear touches to help prevent bouncing or lifting off... once you're slow enough pull back on your stick to keep the tail down and apply brakes, let off the brakes button when the tail does come up and press on again once it starts dropping, after about 60km/h it shouldn't pop back up anymore so you can let off the stick and hammer on the brakes
I think I'll hop on the server and do some touch and go's and whatnot, I do have an issue with landing the P40 since it can stay aloft at much lower speeds than normal
*Edit* Nevermind, I use 4.09, FP server uses 4.08

Tail brakes work wonders for your soul.
I managed to land an IL2 with one gear once. kept it in balance somehow by tilting and braking hardly.
I managed to land once...
Two things, is there anyway to see if anyones in the FP server without actually joining?
And are we gonna set up a regular game, because I haven't been playing this at all recently, which is a shame.
Any new Storm of War content?

Landing is an essential part of the game. If you can't land in a server, you will waste a plane by crashing without a reason. Keep practicing with different planes to get a feel for general landing techniques.
Here, a quick flowchart to help ya land.

Helpful. I just learnt it over time.
I think i'm naturally good at landing. I remember going to an RAF flight simulator machine on this sort of open day. The guy was like "PULL UP! PULL UP! IT'S TOO FAST!"
Then I pulled up at the last second, put the airbrake on, and landed it perfectly. Then the guy said I was one of 2 people who had attempted it on the open day to successfully land, and the other guy had totally missed the runway.
So did I. I used to crash all the time, until I saw some real life P-47 manual page where the landing speeds were marked on the speedometer. They were like 140-170 km.
After that I have screwed only on those "You're landing, BUT...." occasions
Getting it right now just because the flying stunts videos on youtube, I drooled.
Awesome-sauce.
Dbuhos, let me know when you have it. I'll call a grand reunion, and we'll have another dogfight server.
Yeah, I've been looking wistfully at my joystick recently :v:
This looks like a mix of awesome and win. Too bad I'm a cheap bastard and don't want to spend money on it

Its well worth it
IF you have a joystick/gamepad
Speaking of cheap bastardisms, is mount and blade worth £3.99?
Oh yay, it has single player. I might check it out now, not a big fan of having to play multiplayer on a game I've never played before.
