The version on Steam. IL-2 Sturmovik. What exactly does it include? And should I buy it and play with my Logitech Dual action?
IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946. That includes all the stuff from every Sturmovik ever released.

Server is up! Git on! I need targets!
Why oh why did microsoft stop making joysticks??
Anyways, should i get Saitek X52? Agree/Disagree?
X52 has the LED flash error which will render it useless upon receiving it. While it does occur on the pro as well, it can be solved by unplugging and plugging it back in. Not to mention the pro has much better springs and looks and feels a whole lot fucking better. Not to mention it doesn't look like a piece of shitty plastic (even though it is plastic).
get it, it's fucking AWESOME
I got it for 20 bucks to find out that I have to switch my graphics card to my old one.

Im not going to buy the Pro though, its too expensive.
But yeah, if im not finding the MS Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick somewhere, im gonna buy the X52.
What kind of LED flash error?
aand, you mean that it cannot be solved on the original X52?
Alright, considering buying this now, just need to know a few things: how many people need to be playing in a server for it to be fun? How active was the game before it went on sale? Can you play this game efficiently with mouse and keyboard? If you can't play well without a stick, what is the best bang for buck equipment?
Fuck yes steam I knew you were gonna put IL-2 on sale :3 just bought it !
Also this is the joystick I got, T.Flight Hotas X:

if you try and play with keyboard and mouse you will hate life
That was glorious
if you try and play with keyboard and mouse you will hate life
Well you can fly with a keyboard/mouse combination, you just can't hit shit with your guns.
:v:
Would a controller help?
Would a controller help?
yeah. the problem with keyboard and mouse is that you have to do all of your movements with the keyboard, and that means that you don't have the option of "subtle." for example, in a roll, your stick is either neutral and positioned in the center or is smashing the edge of your leg, ready to snap off with zero room in between to "ease" your movements. same goes for everything else.
when flying, there's a lot of easing you need to do -- minor adjustments, etc. flying isn't too hard, but once you get in to a dogfight you're done for with a keyboard.
or is smashing the edge of your leg.
Do you straddle your joystick or something?
Awesome. I've got the Attack-3. Now to figure out how to use it.
is the Logitech Extreme 3D any good?
is the Logitech Extreme 3D any good?
I had it. was pretty good. but i sold it because i wanted better.
everything worked just fine, had lots of buttons, twist axis and a throttle control. comfortable too.
I just want something awesome now.
Uhh, my plane wants to fly downward. Something appears to be wrong :c

set your trim.
best way to do it is to bind a "function key," that, when you hold it down and ease the stick, you can just use that to set a trim for you. auto stabilizer might work too, idk -- I do everything manually so I'm not too much of a help
Nevermind, I'm just dumb. didnt realize the throttle had no power.

From what I've experienced this occurs: LEDs on the joystick begin to flash on and off then controls become very unresponsive as well as begin to randomize (eg. wtf im flying upside down holy shit <crash>). On the X52 Pro I've only occurred with it a few times (three tops) and it was fixed by unplugging and plugging back in. While I've not had an original X52 I have seen numerous reports that once the error occur on the X52 original it is very hard to fix and not as simple to fix as the pro version.
All in all, the pro is a good buy. I got mine for about $120 and you could probably find it for $130 from Amazon or something.

So.. they sell a broken one, and then rebrand it with "Pro" and make it work correctly?
I just got this game, I might play with you guys after I get used to the SP.

get the wings of prey demo and play the tutorials. it REALLY gives you an understanding of how flight works. even with IL-2's tutorials, you're still really left in the dark.
Only problem with the wings of prey tutorial is that unless you complete what it tells you to, you can't advance, even if it means sticking your arms all over the keyboard and joystick at the same time.
