That's weird because Steam used 4.09m. I have no idea what may be wrong.

I'm fine playing IL2 on my friend's server which isn't on Steam, which is even more strange. Could it be any of the addons that came with Hsfx that I enabled? If anybody knows the solution please post it here or pm me, I would appreciate it alot!

That may be it but if you use JSGME (sp?) and only enable HSFX you should be fine.

Okay, I just restarted my pc to make sure I wasn't having any connection problems and then realised that it was because you were doing missions when I logged back in.

Thank god maddox is the one making this. its gonna be awesome.
So how do I force settings on certain games through my control center? I can't find the option.
Oh god. When the Stuka dropped its bomb using the release mechanism; and when the Spitfire rolled and the cockpit reflection was spot on. That shit is a must buy, time to upgrade the computer!
So how do I force settings on certain games through my control center? I can't find the option.
I dont think there is one. i just put them on and when im done playing, i switch them off.
Well.. how do I force settings at all?
Well.. how do I force settings at all?
If you're using a Nvidia card, goto 3D settings, and you can choose the program you want to force the settings on. There will be lots of settings for various things. I don't know how to do it with ATI though, I'm always buying Nvidia cards.

You should also add this to the op:
When you try to save a mission on the quick mission builder on the Steam version of IL2 Sturmovik 1946, it won't save. This is because 1C Maddox forgot to put a folder named 'quicks' in the main IL2 directory. To fix it, just create a folder called 'quicks' (Without the apostrophes) in your IL2 directory located in Steamapps/common/IL 2 Sturmovik 1946.
And another thing, you said that you should enable the settings in the global settings menu for Nvidia users, but if you goto manage 3D settings and then program settings, you can set it just for IL2.

IE If Sturmovik isnt on the list it gets none of the global settings. I know because it had no AA to speak of when my global settings normally calls for 4. (But I changed it to 16xQ for Sturmovik :smug:)

The manage 3D settings doesn't work if you own the game on Steam.

because, you know, you definitely cant select the .exe file for the game
[editline]30th December 2010[/editline]
also, FalconKrunch tells me the game runs much better and is prettier in OpenGL rather than DirectX, is there any clarification?
Dear god I cannot figure out how to setup this game.
I have a Logitech f710 gamepad, the accompanying software allows me to set functions for it but there are SO MANY and I have no idea what half of them do.
It wouldn't be a problem if they where easily labeled, like pitch up/down yaw left/right etc. but it's so confusing. Someone help me!

Since IL-2 runs through Steam, when you choose the .exe it always defaults to the Steam .exe.
-snip-
It doesn't seem to do it anymore for some reason. What used to happen was when you select it, Steam would just keep popping up.

doesn't do that for me
I think a patch or something fixed it, I'm not sure.
