I know how to take off its just that a few minutes after takeoff my rotors snap off.
You have a faulty helicopter.

It's impossible to play with a keyboard, I bought it at EB games for $7.50
how the fuck are you managing that? check that damn rpm limiter, i forget what its called
It doesn't help that the altitude controller (whatever) is extremely hard to control. You press the + button once for half a second and all the sudden your warning light is flashing.
I found a joystick in the basement! wait.. what's this?
It's impossible to play with a keyboard, I bought it at EB games for $7.50
if you set your trim it makes it a lot easier the problem is that rudders become impossible to use because they just send your aircraft rocking all over the place but you only really need to use them when you're on the ground so it's not too bad long story short you'll fly like a boss but dogfighting will become about impossible because it's so hard to finetune

It's on my logitech wingman force. I think there's a usb connection with it also. However, I don't know how I would rudd. (verb - to use rudder)
I think there's a usb connection with it also. However, I don't know how I would rudd. (verb - to use rudder)
uhh keyboard?
uhh keyboard?
ugh, I've learned the hard way that keyboard rudders are bloody terrible. Worst part about the keyboard flying because ramming your rudder all the way to either side forces your plane into all sorts of contrived flight patterns. [editline]3rd January 2011[/editline] Besides what is the tentative release date for BoB? I want to fucking play that already. Also where are the IL-2 servers?! Someone needs to host this weekend.

There is no button on the joystick that can fluidly control the collective.
Anybody wanna play IL-2?

I so want to play this but all joysticks around here are $50+ and ebay is pretty much useless due to shipping costs making it same price anyway. And it's hard to take off with a keyboard. :smithicide:

Not quite a joystick, but beats a keyboard any day. [editline]4th January 2011[/editline] Or if you're really poor, Logitech has some dirt cheap gamepads. Though, don't expect the same build quality and precision as a 360 controller. For Logitech, making some gamepads is just one of many business ventures that brings in an easy buck. For Microsoft, the 360 controller would need to be spot on to support the entire console and make or break the future of the MS game department. After all, who would buy a 360 if the controls where broken?
Chipset bought a cheap logitech one and ended up getting an XBox 360 controller himself. :v:
Chipset bought a cheap logitech one and ended up getting an XBox 360 controller himself. :v:
Yes the Logitech F710 turned out to be quite shit. My wifi was interfering with it to start with, and the analogue sticks are crap when careful precision is needed. Maybe the wired gamepads are better, but I'm not taking any chances.

update throttle and stick should be here tomorrow. hopefully they'll be on my doorstep when i get back from work.
This game can be super frustrating.:argh: For some reason my DVD copy doesn't want to play nice (It's patched and updated, but for some reason Windows 7 64 bit hates the DVD and doesn't want to run off of it. It took literally 30 minutes for Win7 to run the setup file to install the damn thing. I have it on Steam, but every time something gets messed up from mods, or a patch i don't like, i have to reinstall it. Oh well. Time to re-install.
only mod you need is HSFX, really. it comes with the JGSE that installs to the il2 folder. You have to use that to activate the important stuff (namely HSFX itself) because otherwise it won't work right.
Birds of Prey arrived today, and it's fucking awesome. Love zooming between Bombers and watching as they explode in mid air. I'm only just onto the Battle of Stalingrad :buddy:
birds of prey is really arcadey which makes me mad because you can play wings of prey entirely with an xbox/playstation controller and get the same gameplay (plus most of the cool IL-2 realism) aside that point we in bizness
^Holy shit that is an impressive setup. I'm stuck on my Saitek Cyborg Evo, which gets the job done, but now that I've seen your setup my joystick looks like a toy
hahaha holy shit this flies SO GOOD
Don't make me jizz cuz of my Saitek x52 fine i will give me until tomorrow
So has anyone been playing or did everyone stop just because i stopped the last few days?
